Ivy Fulgham

Ivy Fulgham of Brownsboro is one of the outstanding young business
men of the county. Mr. Fulgham was born at Ben Wheeler, Van Zandt
county, February 5, 1888. He was reared on a farm and his early
schooling was obtained at Ben Wheeler and Canton. Later he
attended the North Texas Teacher's College at Commerce and also the
Denton Normal. He began teaching school at nineteen and possesses
a permanent certificate. Mr. Fulgham taught for six years. He began
his teaching career at Pine Bluff and later was superintendent of the
Martins Mill High School.

Four months before his contract with the Martins Mill school was up
Mr. Fulgham was elected president of the First State Bank of Ben
Wheeler. He served in that capacity for two years and then went to
Brownsboro where he assisted in organizing the First State Bank of
that place and has been its cashier since. Mr. Fulgham has a splendid
record as a safe and conservative banker and the institution has
enjoyed a substantial growth under his management.

He was married to Miss Nannie Brewer September 6th, 1912. They
have four children, two sons and two daughters.

Mr. Fulgham is the type of man who believes strongly in the moral
influence of the church upon the community and as a result he is
prominently identified with the Methodist church of Brownsboro. He
has served as superintendent of the Sunday School for many years
and is also a member of the Board of Stewards. He is the type of
citizen that makes for a better community and Henderson county
would be a better place in which to live if we had more of his kind.

Mr. Fulgham is a member of the Masonic fraternity and has taken all the
degrees connected with that order, being a member of Karem Temple
Shrine, Waco. He is also a member of the Odd Fellows.

A list of successful business men of Henderson county would be
incomplete without the name of Ivy Fulgham
.
