Union Couple to Hold Open House on 50th Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Palmer will celebrate their 50th wedding
anniversary on Saturday, November 17 with open house at their
home in the Union
community near Carroll Springs.
The couple was married Nov. 17, 1912 at the home of the bride's
parents in the Union community with the Rev. Hollingsworth, a
Primitive
Baptist pastor officiating.
They are both natives of Henderson County and have lived at Union
all of their lives with the exception of one year which the
couple spent in Alabama.
They are long time members of the Union Methodist Church.
Mrs. Palmer is the former Miss Annie Holcomb, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. James Buck Holcomb, and her husband is the son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Donald Palmer, all pioneer residents of the
community.
Mr. Palmer's grandparents who came to Texas in the 1800's from
Tennessee, homesteaded the farm where Mr. Palmer was born and
where he and
Mrs. Palmer now reside. He is a retired farmer and a well known
fiddler in the area.
Mr. and Mrs. Palmer were parents of nine children, five of whom
are still living. They are Thurman Olen Palmer, of Tucson,
Arizona, Mrs. Gladys Hansen,
of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Helen Burns of Arlington, Mrs. Eunice Teer
of Richardson and Mrs. Vera Odle of Grand Prairie. The couple
also has 6 grandchildren.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to call between 2
and 4:30 p.m. on November 17.
