Cemeteries of Henderson County, Texas

The Partin Family Cemetery
(also known as Lawler/Lollar)
Samuel and Elizabeth Partin came to Texas from Tennessee in the latter part
of the 1850’s. They were married in 1851 in Franklin Co., Tennessee.
They traveled first to Rusk Co. and then to Henderson Co. after the Civil War.
In 1866, Samuel and Elizabeth bought 320 acres of land from Thomas Murchison.
Sadly, Samuel died in 1868 leaving Elizabeth with several little children to care for
and try to make a living from the land. It is on this very land that this cemetery is found.
James S. died in 1867 and probably was the first burial on this land. Then Samuel
died, followed by John Columbus in 1869. The other children reached adulthood.
Mary J. married Stamps Brannan, but died young leaving two small boys. Martha
married Eli Fancher and they have a son, Tom that is buried there also. The baby
of the family was David and he never married, he is also buried with his parents.
Margaret married Welborn L. McWilliams and they are buried at Meredith Campgrounds.
William H. married Molly McWilliams and they are buried at Meredith Campgrounds
There are probably about 20 graves in this cemetery, but mostly are marked only with a
stone and no way to identify who they are. There are also graves for a D. D. Rivers,
T. D. Rivers, and M. C. Rivers. Edward Tilson and Ollie B. Lewis are the other two
identified graves.
