Mr. & Mrs. C. A. Atwood Henderson Co. TX

Above is shown Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Atwood, Henderson county's oldest couple (ages 91 and 90), who now live at 519 Larkin street.

The chair which Mr. Atwood is holding was already an old chair when the First National Bank was organized fifty years ago. The chair was made for Ester Evaline McWhorter, mother of Mrs. Atwood, and is now 111 years old.

Mrs. Atwood's mother was born December 23rd, 1828, in Walker county, Georgia. The chair was used by her and all her younger brothers and sisters, all of her children and all of Mrs. Atwood's children, and is well preserved even now. It is kept hanging on the wall as a family relic and is no longer used.

The powder horn hanging about Mr. Atwood's neck has been in his possession for seventy years and was old when it came into his possession. Its exact age is not known.

Should Mr. and Mrs. Atwood live until next August they will celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary, and event that few people in the world live to celebrate.

C. A. Atwood is listed on the 1890 Tax Roll for Henderson Co. TX as having 160 acres on the G. W. Warren Survey.

On the 1900 Henderson Co. census page 180b dewlling # 164 family # 166 there is a:
Cornilious A. ATWOOD born Dec. 1849 age 50 married 30 yrs born GA parents born GA he was a farmer.
wife Cathrine born Feb. 1851 age 49 12 children born to her 9 living, she was born in AR parents AL
