Comments: Samuel Magrill came to Upshur County around 1846 with his brother John Magrill. Sam was a farmer and acquired quite a bit of land in the Earpville area (now the South side of Longview). He was married three times; each time to a Mary. The surname of his second wife, whom he married before 1868 in Upshur County, is unknown. His third wife was Mary E. Orr McKinley. This marriage dated 04 Aug 1873 was the first marriage recorded in Gregg County. Samuel died in Jun 1879 in Gregg County of typhoid fever.
