Bradley, Johnny KILGORE - Services for Johnny Bradley, former chief of police for the city of Kilgore, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home. "Johnny" KILGORE - Services for Mr. John E. "Johnny" Bradley will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, with the Rev. Buddy Duggins and the Rev. Dwain Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy. Mr. Bradley passed away Saturday morning at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Johnny was born in Upshur County August 26, 1937, to Mann and Edna Bradley, deceased. The Bradleys owned and operated a dairy farm, so Johnny knew the meaning of work. He milked cows, hauled hay and worked in the fields. He graduated from Gladewater High School in 1955, where he excelled in football and baseball. After graduation, he attended Southwest Texas State College on a football scholarship. In 1958, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge from the Army, Johnny went to work for the Texas Department of Public Safety as a state trooper in Houston, Texas. In 1964, the Department of Public Safety transferred him to Kilgore. He became chief of police for the city of Kilgore in 1977. After he left the city of Kilgore, he joined the Kilgore College Police Force until he retired in January of 1999. Mr. Bradley loved sports and followed the teams for Kilgore High School and Kilgore College. He was a past commissioner and coach for Kilgore Boys Baseball Association. He and Patsy loved to travel and go camping in their travel trailer. Johnny was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather who was so proud of his family. He was a man of integrity and his word was his bond. He was an active member of the Forest Home Baptist Church; Danville Masonic Lodge No. 101 where, he was a Past Master and recipient of the Golden Trowel Award; Clinton Masonic Lodge No. 23; Past District Deputy Grand Master; and a Life Member of the Waco Scottish Rite of Texas. Johnny is survived by his wife, Patsy Bradley of Kilgore; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bart and Karie Bradley of Henderson and Chad and Hannah Bradley of Henderson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mayme and Bobby Fleet of Longview and Lurline and Dan Atchley of Simpsonville; a sister-in-law, Gayle Porter of Wills Point; eight grandchildren, Braden Bradley, Collin Bradley, Cole Bradley, Baylee Bradley, Manning Bradley, Klint McCown, Kenny McCown and Kolby McCown; and host of loving friends to whom he meant so much. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore between 6-8 p.m. today, October 8, 2007. Memorials may be made to Danville Lodge No. 101, P.O.
