Mrs. Hannah Carr Mrs. Hannah Carr was born in Upshur County, Gilmer, Texas on March 22, 1901 to Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Jeffery. She united with Mt. Gilead Baptist Church at an early age and attended there until illness hampered her. She was always present and lent full support to Christian activities at other congregations as well. She was married to John Carr and to this union nine children were born. She is survived by one brother, Mose Jeffery, Gilmer; one sister, Ona D. Starnes, Gilmer; one son, Jeff Carr, Gilmer; eight daughters, Leola Elder, Gilmer, Lula Mae Patterson and Jessie Mae Hoskins, Longview, Verlena Cummings, Dorothy Joe Bonner and Margaret Busby, Ft. Worth; Paralee Strong and Luecressie Nesbitt, of Dallas; one step-son, Travis Carr and one step-daughter, Eddie Mae Ervin, Gilmer; thirty-seven grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Clemmie Ree Ray Sister Clemmie Ree Ray was born on January 16, 1922 in Gilmer, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bauchaum. She attended public school in Ore City, Texas and high school in Gilmer, Texas. She confessed a hope in Christ with the New Mountain Baptist Church, Ore City, Texas. In later years, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas in the Greenway addition where she united with the Progressive Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Rev. James Warren. She leaves to mourn her homegoing her mother, Lula Bauchaum, one son,
Gary Moore Ray, a step-son, William McKnight, Gilmer, Texas; two sisters,
Mrs. Loyla Mae Fields, Marion City, California and Mrs. Ozie B. Davis
of Fort Worth, Texas; 7 half sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Smith of Clarendon,
Texas, Mrs. Margie Steveson, Marion City, California, Mrs. Sallie
Mae Jackson and Mrs. Jewel Hollins both of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Nora
White of San Rafel, California, Mrs. Retha Jones of Gilmer, Texas; 3
half brothers, Davis Jones of Clarendon, Texas, Vodie Bauchaum of Los
Angeles, California and Hezekia Jones of California; one aunt, Mrs.
Lucy Avery of Houston, Texas; one uncle, Dock Hollins of Longview, Texas

Casa Nora Mosby CASA NORA MOSBY was born in Gilmer, Texas, September 7, 1923 to the union of Edgar Hays and Lalar Hays. She united with Valley View Baptist Church at an early age. She completed her education at Valley View High School in Gilmer, Texas, and continued her education at Butler College, Tyler, Texas, there she received her AA degree. In 1952 Casa married Thomas Mosby. On Tuesday, January 30,1990, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Casa answered a call and made her transition at Saint Francis Hospital. Mrs. Mosby's career extended over 30 years as co-owner and operator of the Flamingo Club with her husband. Those who will cherish her memory are; a loving father and mother;
one daughter, Brenda J. Higgins; one son, Steven Mosby of Los Angeles,
CA.; one grandson, Joseph Hall; wife Valerie Hall; 1 great granddaughter,
Shardei Hall, all of Los Angeles, CA.; 4 sisters: Lenora Vallery of
Compton, CA; Constance Lee of Los Angeles, CA; Reba Pittman and Monie
B. Garrett of Dallas, TX.; 6 brothers: Chester Hays of San Francisco,
CA.; Edgar Hays, Jr. of Compton, CA.; Billy R. Hays of Lake View Terrace,
CA.; Romeo Hays of Gilmer, TX; Johnny L. Hays and Elton Hays of Dallas,
TX; numerous Thanks to Angie for this obit. Thurman King July 19, 1918 December 31, 1993 Thurman King was born July 19, 1918, in Gilmer, Texas, to the union of Felix and Otha Davis King. He united with the Valley View Baptist Church where he received his early religious training. Thurman met and was united in Holy Matrimony to Cecelia Gardner. To this union one son was born. Thurman was a graduate of Valley View High School, and went on to study at Bishop College in Marshall, Texas. Before graduation, he was called to serve in the United States Army (World War II), and was honorably discharged in January of 1946. Some of his most memorable experiences were those of Guadalcanal and Okinawa. He returned to Bishop College and graduated with a B. S. degree in Education. He taught at Valley View High School, was employed at Lone Star Steel Company, and Continental Can where he retired. Thurman's younger years of dedicated contributions consisted of B.T.U.
president and financial secretary for Valley View Baptist Church, member
of the Excelsior Lodge No. 10, W.P.A. worker, and many hours of community
service. He even donated his time to building furniture and cabinets
for He is survived by his son, Cornelious King and daughter-in-law, Debra King, of Gilmer, TX; a stepson, James Edward, of Dallas, TX; one sister, Erece D. King Jones, of Gilmer, TX; two brothers, Miles D. King, of Gilmer, TX., and Melvin King, of Amarillo, TX.; two aunts, Artie Nelson and Johnetta Smith; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Jessie Lee Hardeman Edwards Mrs. Jessie Lee Hardeman Edwards was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hardeman, in Upshur County on May 9, 1920. She peaceful entered eternal rest on April 27, 1992, at her home. She united with the Valley View Baptist Church at an early age. She later united with the Snow Hill Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member throughout her life. She served on the Usher Board for many years. On June 4, 1939, she united in holy matrimony to Mr. Andrew Edwards. To this union four children were born. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Mr. Andrew Edwards
of Ore City, Texas; four sons: Harold Edwards and Charles Edwards of
Ore City, Texas, Herman Edwards of Daingerfield, Texas, and Raymond
Edwards of Dallas, Texas; one stepson Dwight Edwards of Gilmer, Texas;

Lewis William "Henry" Lewis was born on July 1, 1930 to Symore and Jessie Brown Lewis in Gilmer, Texas, which is located in Upshur, County.
