Henry Petty born 13 april 1832 in Cobb County, Georgia and died 13 April 1911 in Upshur County. He was the son of Moses James Petty (1775-1832) and Jane (Jannie) Gaskall (1795-1900). Henry served in the Confederate Army Co. G., 17th Tx. Cavalry, MOORE'S Regiment out of Upshur County and fought on 12 May 1863 at Raymond, MS., fought 19 Sep 1863 at Chickamauga, GA., on 22 Jul 1864 at Atlanta, GA., on 29 Nov 1864 at Spring Hill, TN., on 30 Nov 1864 at Franklin, TN., on 16 Dec 1864 at Nashville, TN. and was captured twice by the Yankee troups. His children were Mary E. Petty (1853-1871), Moses J. Petty (1855-1899),
William H. T. Petty (1869-1935), Nancy Jane Petty born 1862, Martha E. Petty (1866-1912), Harriet Petty (1870-1877).
