Thelma Jo Jackson, 89, of Sulphur Springs died Monday, March 5, 2007. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant with Dr. Clint Davis officiating. Burial follows in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Mount Pleasant under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. The family receives friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Harmon, to Claude C. Shelton and Felix Alma Rogers Shelton. She was an educational secretary. She was retired from Mount Pleasant ISD. She was a member of First Baptist Church, NE-TX Association, Kroweldeen Club, State Treasurer of Texas Association of Education and secretaries and aides. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Travis Jackson; father, Claude C. Shelton and mother, Felix Alma Rogers Shelton; one sister and four brothers. Survivors include her son, Jay S. Jackson of Garrison; daughter, Karen Jackson Bailey of Sulphur Springs; grandchild and spouse, Nathan and SuZanne Bailey; grandchild, Michael Jackson; grandchild, Joel Bailey; great-grandchild, Grace Bailey; sister, Neva Nicholson of California.
