Helen Stroman Ragain, 84, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 in Mount Pleasant. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Dr. Clint Davis officiating. Interment will be under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. Mrs. Ragain was born on Nov. 26, 1922, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Ben and Josie (Cook) Stroman. She was a retired telephone operator for Southwestern Bell and a member of the Retired Communication Workers of American. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary Chapman of Houston and Ronnie and Regina Chapman of Springdale, Ark.; four grandchildren, Ronda Chapman of Houston, Joe Dan Chapman of Texarkana, Ragain Chapman of Rogers, Ark., and Kim Yarrow of Houston; five great-grandchildren, Jessica and Casey Rich, Ryan and Michael Yarrow, and Olivia Chapman; her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Dorothy Stroman and their four children; a sister-in-law, Nell Ragain; nieces and nephew, Debbie, Terrie and Dr. Michael Ragain; nephew, Dickie Miller of Mount Pleasant; two nieces, Janie Jones of Mount Pleasant and Linda Douglas of Madisonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kenneth "Scooter" Ragain; and her parents.
