Estate of Mary C. Price, Deceased

 

Petition of S. B. Price for letters of administration on the estate of Mary C. Price. She departed this life leaving no lawful will and seized and possessed of a considerable amount of property. Dated 15 January 1864.

Bond of S. B. Price, administrator; $1500. Sureties: B. Burleson and P. L. Samuel.

Inventory and appraisal made by I. N. (or J. N.) Stephenson, E. B. Waadrome [Woodrome?], and Isaac Power. Included was the undivided "haff" of Daniel McVains homestead and 20 acres land on Joel Snider's pre-emption. Filed 23 February 1864.

"The property in the above Inventory and Appraisment specified as common property. [Administrator is here separating his separate property from the community] ... purchased with money and property I received for my land and other money held before my marriage with Mary C. Price the Dec'd. R. H. King owed me $30.00 or $35.00 on which I held his note and handed it to J. W. Oliver, Esq. to collect but I do not know whether or not it has been collected that -- would be common property. 23 Feb. 1864. S/ S. B. Price. Rejected.

Petition of S. B. Price, "natural guardian of person and property of Genetta Price minor heir of Mary C. Price formerly Mary C. McVane, now deceased and John D. Hudson Guardian of John McVane Louisa McVane Jane McVane and Alexander McVane minor heirs of Daniel McVane and said Mary C. Price formerly Mary C. McVane dec'd would respectfully show ... that the said Mary C. and her former husband Daniel McVane, owns as a homestead 160 acres of Land the -------? in the name of the said Daniel McVane his heirs was entitle to one half of said homestead 160 acres, and that after the death of said Daniel McVane, the said Mary C. enter married with S. B. Price one of your petitioners, and the said Genette is the issue of said last marriage and is entitled to and equal shear of the said 160 acres of Land with all the other heirs in right of his [sic] mother .... Further ... the said Mary C. Price owned in her own right 20 acres of Land a part of the headright of Joel Snider and that all of her legal heirs to wit John Louisa Alexander and Jane McVane and Gennetta Price is Legally entitled to equal shears of [sic]." Petitioners ask that a decree for partition and distribution be granted. S/ S. B. Price, Guar[dian]
January term 1866. J. D. Hudson, Guard.

Report of administrator that he sold at the Court House door in Fort Worth the 180 acres of land and that John D. Hudson became the purchaser for the heirs of Mary C. Price at the sum of $300. Filed 29 October 1866.

Citations issued to adm'r to make reports on Jan. 21 1868, and again on Jan. 4, 1871.
