Receipt. "Office of the County Clerk of Tarrant Co. Fort Worth, Texas Mch 22, 1872. Received of Dan Parker, Clerk of the County Court of Tarrant County, the papers in the case of Estate of Wm. G. Helms and Jacob Helms. S/ Henricks Smith.

[Note: The signature, above, is not that of an individual, but refers to the law firm of Hendricks & Smith, of Fort Worth. The paper, which follows this receipt, appears not to be an official paper. Rather, it appears to be an accumulation of notes made from court house records. It is, in part, difficult to decipher, and was perhaps hurriedly written by a representative of that law firm, although this has not been proved. The notes were probably inadvertently returned with the estate papers.]

"Distribution to Legatees of Wm G. Helms estate.
Heirs Jacob Helms father of Elizabeth, Virginia, Margaret Bolie, Mary Meeler, Caroline Allen, John C. Helms, (Amanda Hoffman, Martha Robison, Oscar Helm). For those in ( ) rec'd by W. L. Suggs, aty appointed by the court. It seems that Jacob rec'd May 29-55 $550.25 same day the remaining heirs $55.02. Suggs filed protest May 1, 1855 against the partition. Notice of application for admr on W G H's estate by Jacob H. Nov 29-52. Admr Bond $4200 Oct 24-52 Brinson & Johnson surties. B. P. Ayres filed bond to administer Sept 12, 1857 amt $2180 of est. of Jacob Helms. Inventory of Wm. G. Helms Estate amt 2322$ 800$ acres land Jan 20-53 recorded H 106. Jacob was the father of W. G. E. R. Helms to H [?] & S L 497 Nov 28-70. Jacob H. died in Gryn Co. R. P. Robinson and wife to J. P. Smith 'A' 169. He quit [?] 30-73.

[In margin]: Heirs of W. G. Helms
Jacob his father/ Elizabeth, Virginia, John E., Oscar, Margaret Baily, Mary Miller, Carolin Allen, Amda Hoffman, Martha Robinson.

[Reverse side. In ink]:
It seems that Sugg was caroter at litum for three heirs Amanda Heffman, Martha Robinson and Oscar Helms. He as such guardian received 160 acres of land out of the S E quarter of the W Oneal 604 acre survy. Wm his protest May 1st 1874 it seems that he represented John Helms dec'd. This would give to each of the heirs 40 acres. On the basis of there being two children of Jacob H. at the time of the abslutative on this reposeotetions [?] Oscar would have 40 acres in the O Neal Survy from his brother 32 same suvy from his father 88 in the Themos Helms suvy. B. P. Ayres as admr of Jacob Helms opents [?] March 23-59 that a note on Wm Wadkins due said Helms had come to his hands, the note was due in July 55.

[Note: The wording of the above notes has been checked by three persons for accuracy. We think that the handwriting has been correctly interpreted, but nowhere were we able to find a definition of (1) caroter, or (2) abslutative on this reposeotetions. We therefore consulted an attorney at law, and were advised that despite what the man wrote, the interpretation of the first phrase could only be guardian ad litum," and the second phrase could only refer to an application for administration, as used here.]
