Night before last at about ten o'clock, the spirit of Constant Dodson returned to the God who gave it, and yesterday his mortal remains were consigned to their mother earth, by the Masonic fraternity of this city, of which he was an honored member.

Judge Dodson, as he was familiarly known, has been a citizen of this county for a number of years, and we know of no one whom our citizens delighted more to honor than Judge Dodson. A good citizen, kind neighbor, and indulgent husband and parent, a christian gentleman, always ready to bear his share of the burdens of his fellow men, it is not strange that he was beloved by all who new him....

A Solemn Scene

The burial of Constant Dodson yesterday evening was one of the most solemn occasions we ever witnessed. Owing to the great great distance from town, it was late when the remains of the deceased reached town - and when the funeral cortege arrived at the cemetery, the sun had sunk beneath the western horizon...

The funeral services of the Masonic fraternity were read by the Master of the lodge, by the dim light of a flickering taper. In the east the pale moon was emerging from beneath a bank of clouds and threw a silver sheen over the solemn scene as its rays shown through the live oaks that shade the silent city of the dead.....

Judge Constant Dodson, considered one of the oldest and respected citizens of Tarrant County, died October 2nd. Funeral services were conducted late last night at the cemetery with Masonic rites.
