Stephens Rancher, 81, Dies in Temple
Breckenridge: ROY STOKER, 81, a prominent Stephens County rancher, died Monday
at Scott & White Hospital in Temple after a lengthy illness. Services will be 3
p.m. Wednesday at Satterwhite Chapel of Grace. FRANK BROOKS, pastor of First
United Presbyterian Church, and HARRY GRANTZ, pastor of First Baptist Church,
will officiate. Burial will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery.
Born Aug. 29, 1895 in Stephens County, he married LEONA GANDY Sept. 30, 1918 in
Breckenridge. She died March 24, 1971. He married EDNA BROWN Nov. 4, 1973. He
was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Roughneck Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter JEAN PARRISH GENTRY of Breckenridge, a
grandson KENNY PARRISH of Breckenridge; two sisters CLARA STOKER of Mineral
Wells and ELIZABETH STOKER WHITE of Burlington, North Carolina; three brothers,
HOWARD and GREEN STOKER, both of Mineral Wells, and CALVIN STOKER of
Weatherford; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will be at 707 South Cutting.
Pallbearers will be GARLAND GANDY, MIKE ROGERS, BILLIE CREAGH, GUY COUGER, and
JACK EDEN. Members of the Roughneck Sunday School Class will be honorary
pallbearers. The family has asked that memorials be in the form of contribution
to the Arthritis Foundation, Cancer Society or the Heart Fund.
