Green H. Sayle
Died
Mr. Green H. Sayle, who had been very low with consumption for several
months, died at his home in this place last Sunday at 1 o'clock p.m. His
funeral was preached at the Methodist church Monday evening by Rev. A. P. Payne,
after which the remains were conveyed to the cemetery, followed by his
grief-stricken family and a large crowd of sympathizing friends. The
deceased had long been a resident of Breckinridge, and had the confidence and
respect of all who knew him. He was converted and joined the Methodist
church on the 25th of December last and died calmly and peacefully, as "one who
wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams."
He has expressed a desire to die on Sunday, when the bright sunshine was
shedding its rays over the earth, and so it was. His last day dawned
bright and clear, and while the carol of the birds enlivened the woods and all
nature basked in the lovely sunshine, his spirit passed into the more glorious
sunlight on the other shore.
