Mrs. E.D. (Wilhelmina) McDowell, 86, died at 5:35 p.m. Friday at Hendrick
Medical Center in Abilene.
Services were at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev.
Marc Childress, pastor of the church.
Burial was in Breckenridge Cemetery directed by Melton Funeral Home.
Born Wilhelmina Elizabeth Stewart Feb. 7, 1901 in Woodworth, La., she married
E.D. McDowell Feb. 1, 1923 in Hattiesburg, Miss. He died Jan. 10, 1977.
She came to Breckenridge in 1940 from Big Spring.
She was a housewife, a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mary Martha
Circle, Woman’s Forum and the Woman’s club.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. A.C. Gallagher Jr. of Breckenridge; three
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Gallagher, Robert L. Adams, Richard T. Wolfe, Lester
Clark, Jack Leveridge and Robert Alford.
Honorary pallbearers were C.W. Wulfjen Jr., R.I. McArron, R.E. Dye, Omer
Palmber, P.W. Pitzer, Frank Alexander, Alfred Meeks, Hubert Whitley, W.H. Green
Jr., Lawrence Collins, William A. Craig, L.W. Brooks and E.P. Fambro.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Breckenridge
Public Library which may be left at Melton Funeral Home.
