Mrs. Maddox, 40 Year Resident, Dies Sunday
Mrs. Curtis Maddox, 58, died Sunday at 11:55 p.m. in a Houston hospital where
she had been a patient since May 25.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church
with the Rev. James Thomas, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. James
Johnson, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Burial will be in
Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Melton Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 26, 1910, Grace Johnson, in Bromide, Okla., she had lived in
Breckenridge 40 years. She married Curtis Maddox Dec 25, 1929 in Wellington.
The couple moved to Breckenridge after their marriage and had lived here since.
She had been employed as a secretary for Carey Transfer & Storage Company for
many years.
Mrs. Maddox was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. W.D. Searcey of Austin; four
sisters, Mrs. C.L. Goforth of San Jacinto, Calif., Mrs. H.F. Benson of Hereford,
Mrs. R.E. Johnson of Amarillo and Mrs. Joe Ing of Pampa; five brothers, Olen
Johnson of Shamrock, Owen and Webb Johnson of Pampa, Jack Johnson of Roswell,
N.M. and Carl Johnson of Panhandle; two grandchildren, Steven Searcey and
Jennifer Searcey.
Pallbearers are Jodie Baker, Haskell Key, Van Turner, Rufus Roberts, Frank Shaw
and Joe Clark.
