BRECKENRIDGE – Irvan Lewis, 84, died Wednesday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Dr.
Kent Marrs officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery with Masonic
rites, directed by Melton Funeral Home.
Born in Clarksville, he was a longtime resident of Breckenridge. He was a
rancher and had been Stephens County Tax Assessor-Collector for 18 years.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Morning Tower Sunday School
class and the Lions Club. He was past master of Masonic Lodge No. 492 and past
deputy grand master of Texas. He was past worthy patron of Order of Eastern
Star. He was county commissioner for four years and president of Stephens county
Singing Convention. He was a member of the American Heart Association and
Buckaroo Riding Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Lavonne Stewart of Dallas; a son, Edmond Lewis of
Greenbelt, Md.; two sisters, Icie Cox and Faye Kidwell, both of Arlington; a
brother, Dale Lewis of Kerrville; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and may be left at the
funeral home.
