Tillie Gunlock, 68, of Woodson, died Thursday, May 3 1990, in Villa Haven
Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 5, 1990, at 2 p.m., at Hart
Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles West, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church,
officiating, under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.
She was born Clotylda Ellis on June 1, 1921, near Greenville. She attended
schools in Clinton. She had lived in the Breckenridge and Woodson area since
1939. She had worked as a machine operator in a bomber plant in Fort Worth
during World War II. She married H.L. Gunlock in Breckenridge on January 1,
1942. She and her husband had been houseparents for boys at Methodist Home in
Waco for a period of time. She was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church
where she had served as nursery coordinator for many years. She had previously
owned and operated Woodson Inn Café in Woodson. She had been a Pink Lady at
Stephens Memorial Hospital. She was a director of Company “L” Reunion
Association. She was a member of Woodson Baptist Church.
Survivors include, her husband, H.L. Gunlock, of Woodson; one daughter and
son-in-law, Linda and Bill Oliver of Woodson; one son and daughter-in-law, Hank
and Christy Gunlock of Riverside, Cal; four brothers, Merle Ellis, Milburn
Ellis, and Jimmy Ellis, all of Bakersfield, Cal.; and Jerry Ellis of Lake Tahoe,
NV.; two sisters, Claudine Bunkley of Breckenridge and Collie Joe Ellis of
Arvin, Cal.; her step-mother, Gladys Ellis of Arvin, Cal; four grandsons, Kurt
Oliver and his wife, Tammy of Woodson, Gary Oliver and his fiancée, Ellen
Landenberger, both of College Station, Lloyd Oliver of Camp Pendleton, Cal.; and
Gabriel Gunlock of Riverside, Cal.; and one granddaughter Gloria Gunlock of
Riverside, Cal.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Pallbearers will be, Richard Bunkley, Jim Gunlock, Joe Gunlock, Billy Mitchell,
Gary Oliver, Jim Oliver and Kurt Oliver.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Bethany Baptist church Fund,
and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. The family will be at 708 Renee.
