Woodson Rites Set Today For R.V. Forrest
Funeral services for Roy Virgil Forrest, 75, of Woodson, are to be held today at
2:30 p.m. in Woodson Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Salley, pastor of First
Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was to be in Woodson Cemetery under the
direction of Merriman Funeral Home of Throckmorton.
Mr. Forrest died Monday at 2:30 a.m. in a Throckmorton hospital. He had been a
resident of Throckmorton County since 1921.
He was born Feb. 23, 1892, in Hamilton County and he married Lila Smith in 1913.
A retired farmer, he had been in poor health several years. He was a member of
Woodson Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Elmo of Woodson, and R. L. of
Hurst; three daughters, Mrs. Louise McClure of Charleston, West Va., Mrs. Ida
Mae Bellah of Breckenridge and Mrs. Odessa Massengale of Graham; a brother, H.W.
Forrest of Woodson; two sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Wolfe of Woodson and Mrs. Erene
Winters of Snyder; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were to be Browning Elliott, Dale Jones, Marvin Bellah,
David Sullivan, Glan Magin, Judd Jones, Bill Sanders and Silas Brown.
