Ex-Rancher Dies at 87 in Seminole
SEMINOLE, Aug, 25 (Spl) – Monroe Stone Doss, 87, resident of Gaines County 60
years and long-time rancher in the area, died Monday in a hospital.
The Seminole man was widely known in ranching circles and had bee a member of
the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association since about 1904. Doss was
a familiar figure at the association’s annual conventions.
He retired in 1938 from active ranching, but continued in the oil and ranch land
business.
Doss was born in Parker County and taught school in Motley County for a time.
He is survived by his wife and nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2
p.m. Wednesday in First Methodist Church.
