John Quincy Corbett III
John Quincy "Johnny" Corbett III, 55, died Sunday, May 9,
2010. Funeral: 2 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church in Breckenridge with
Charles Kuhn and the Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating. Interment: Bee Branch
Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.
Memorials: May be made to Meals on Wheels, Breckenridge Library or John Williams
Memorial Scholarship. John was born May 3, 1955, in Fort Worth to John Quincy
Corbett Jr. and Donna Waller Corbett. He was a graduate of Breckenridge High
School and Texas A&M University class of 1976. He married Jerrylee Barnes on
Aug. 19, 1978, in San Antonio. John was a fourth-generation Stephens County
rancher. He was always quick with encouragement, hugs and kisses. He brought
people together and made everyone feel they were his best friend. John loved his
family and friends, poker, 42, Possum Kingdom Lake, tall grass and fat cattle.
He was a member and elder of First Christian Church, member of the advisory
board of First National Bank of Albany/Breckenridge, board member of the Lower
Clear Fork of the Brazos Soil and Water Conservation District, board member of
Swenson Museum, member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association,
2006 Rural Citizen of the Year and Stephens County Jr. Livestock Show sales
committee. John was preceded in death by his father, John Quincy Corbett Jr.
Survivors: Wife, Jerry Corbett; sons, Robert Corbett and David Corbett; mother,
Donna Corbett; sister, Nancy and her husband, Jake Wells, and their children and
spouses.
