Sgt. Andrews Is Killed In North African Action
Messages tell of his death and injury of Shelton Ray Hessen

 A message received here Tuesday afternoon from the adjutant general’s department told of the death of Sgt. Rowland W. Andrews of Breckenridge.
The message read to the effect that Sgt. Andrews was killed on September 9 in the North Africa area and that a letter would follow.

                Sgt. Andrews went into service with the National Guard unit from Breckenridge. He was 37 years old, and prior to entering military service was employed at A.C. Andrews Cleaners. He attended school in Breckenridge.

                Survivors of the immediate family are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Andrews. Three sisters, Maxye and Jessie Lue Andrews of Breckenridge, and Mrs. H.B. Post of New Orleans and two brothers, A.C. Andrews of Breckenridge, and Lt. William Delton Andrews, now in Ireland.

                Also Mrs. Joe Hessen has received information by letter that her son Shelton Ray Hessen, who left here with the National Guard unit, has been wounded in the right leg and arm.
