Annie was dau of James Benson McCleskey and  Mary Elizabeth Nixon. Her husband was Judge John Stidham Shepard. From the John S. Shepard family bible entries for Annie: born Dec 20, 1857, died May 5, 1928. Judge Shepard is buried in Wheeler Cem., 9 mi N of Corrigan, TX.

b. Jan. 6, 1887  He enlisted in Naval Service at Dallas, Texas June 22, 1908, was assigned to the U.S.S. W. Va. served four years as Water Tender, and was honorably discharged June 21, 1912. He re-enlisted at Dallas Nov. 6, 1912, served four years as Water Tender on the U.S.S. Cheyenne, and was honorably discharged Nov. 5, 1916. He re-enlisted at New Orleans, La. Dec. 30, 1916, served on U.S.S. Kearsarge; received Good Conduct Medal Aug. 28, 1917; Permanent appointment as Chief Water Tender, at Boston, Mass. May 1, 1918; honorably discharged at Key West, Fla. Dec. 28, 1920. He re-enlisted at Houston, Texas, Apr. 5, 1921 for four years as Chief Water Tender, and was assigned to the U.S. Receiving Ship, stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, receiving for services on this ship a Good Conduct pin Aug 23, 1921. He also received the Victory Medal, Atlantic Fleet Clasp, and Victory Button. He was transferred July 3, 1922 to the Fleet Naval Reserve Force, and was discharged, with Honorable Discharge Button, July 14, 1922, at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Norfolk, Va.  In World War II he was a special inspector for all out going navy material in three different ports in Texas. His last was at Orange, Texas.

According to the George Fletcher Shepard family bible, Franklin was born Jul 19, 1830. He died between Nov 1907 and Apr 1910. Received TX CSA pension #12627.
Sarah J.: Sarah Jane WATSON, dau of John T. Watson (1806 KY), sister of William H. “Bud” Watson. Bud married Franklin’s sister Mary Shepard (buried in Old Red Rock Cem., Bastrop Co., TX, no marker).
