PROGRAM
of
STEPHENS COUNTY
TEACHERS' INSTITUTE
To be held at
BRECKENRIDGE
December 14-18, 1914

JESSE R. SMITH
Ex-Officio County Superintendent

The Stephens County Teachers' Institute for 1914-1915 will be held in the Breckenridge Public School Building, December 14-18 inclusive, 1914.

All teachers who have written or oral contracts to teach in this county are required under the law to attend five days of seven hours each unless prevented by unavoidable circumstances.  Teachers who comply with the above conditions will receive pay for the five days, provided the work is up to the standard prescribed by the State Superintendent.

The institute work is divided into two sections.  the Primary and Intermediate sections will be composed of teachers doing work in the first seven grades; the High School section will be composed of teachers doing work from the seventh grade up unless some few changes be made by the section leaders or county superintendent.

The State Department of Education has approved two books to be used in the institute as follows:
School Room Essentials and Charter's Teaching the Common Branches.  These books can be bought from the Drug Store of Dr. J. W. Wharton, Breckenridge.  Most of the teachers have the former book.  The work of the institute will be based almost entirely on these books, and every teacher is urged to procure a copy at once; the best work can not be done without a close study of these splendid texts.

Section Supervisiors
Primary and Intermediate:
The first two days, Miss Winnie Brown; the last three days, Miss Edith Lauderdale.

High School Section
The first two days, Superintendent J. C. Allison; the last three days, Principal Rupert N. Richardson.
