SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Maurene Barr 1916-2000 BIG SPRING -- Maurene Barr, sister of Charlcie Roberson of Snyder, died Thursday, Oct. 5, in the Comanche Trail Nursing Home. Service for Mrs. Barr, 84, was set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Parker, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was to follow in Trinity Memorial Park with Eastern Star rites. Born on April 18, 1916 in Callahan County, she was reared in Vincent and attended Vincent and Coahoma schools. She married Leslie Barr on Sept. 27, 1935 in Vincent. He died Nov. 1, 1963. Mrs. Barr attended LVN school at Medical Arts Hospital and after graduation she worked at Medical Arts for 25 years. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Other survivors include two sons, Ret. Col. Grady Barr and his wife, Letha, of Tyler, and David Barr and his wife, Patricia, of Vincent; one daughter, Nelda Thomas of San Antonio; one brother, Kay Tate of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and two brothers.
