BLACK HILL
BLACKLAND
Blackland was located four miles southeast of Rockwall in central Rockwall County.
It was granted a
post office in 1876. During the 1880s it had a population
of 125, three businesses, and a gristmill. Local farmers shipped cotton,
wheat, and oats from there, but the coming of the railroad to other towns
within the county was Blackland's un-doing.
The BOTTOMS
1 mile south of Heath.
It was known for "quart houses" and gambling - located on the East Fork slough.

It was a Way Station & Stage Coach stop between Bonham and Scyene.

NEW CALEDONIA
Located southeast of the Rockwall square, near the Missouri - Kansas & Texas Railroad depot station. It was a predominately African-American community.
