Thompson Cemetery

Surveyed by Leila B. LaGrone
Submitted by Marylee Knight

This cemetery is located east of the Sabine River, on what was once the Old Walnut Hill Camp Ground. The cemetery continued to be in use long after the Camp Ground was abandoned. Only a few old families have buried there since the Camp Ground ceased to be used. It is uncertain just when the cemetery began, or how many people are buried there, but the oldest marked grave is that of Amos Thompson who died in 1854.
