SKILLERN CEMETERY, NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TEXAS

Transcript contributed by H. L. Jacobs, March 2005

The Skillern Cemetery is located south east of Nacogdoches. From the intersection of Loop 224 and TX 21 travel 13.5 miles on TX 21 to CR 434. Turn south (right) on CR 434 and travel 1.5 miles. Turn west (right) onto CR 430 and travel 1.2 miles over dirt roads to the cemetery; at one point the road will split and you should take the right fork. Signs at the turns mark the cemetery turns but these appear to be private signs and may not be maintained by the state.
CAUTION:  This cemetery is in a very secluded wooded area and should not be visited alone. It also should not be visited after rainfall as the dirt roads get very muddy and treacherous.

Alternate directions from H. L. Jacobs:
Go east out of Nacogdoches,Texas on highway 21 through Melrose to Sand Hill; turn right on CR 432 & go app. 1 & 6/10 miles and there will be a cemetery sign; turn right, this will be at a curve in the road. go 6/10 mile to fork in road, take the rightfork; go another 6/10 mile and you should be at the cemetery.
