LOONEYVILLE CEMETERY


Looneyville Cemetery is located on private property, behind an old house at Looneyville. From Nacogdoches travel west on FM 343, turn south (left) on FM 225 and travel about 2 miles, just north of a church on the east side of the road is a ruined building on the west side, cemetery south of the ruined building.

Cemetery is in privet hedge and pine forest about fifty yards to west of right-of-way. Drive entrance to cemetery permits walk-up visitations. Light overgrowth of hedge, grasses, and vines; medium condition, some care has been given this site by land owner.

Square base with four foot column; 

north face of large base inscribed with:

square base of column has inscriptions for burials

Died: Oct. 1873



   east face inscription:



S.C. Looney

Born: Jan, 22, 1839

Died Dec. 03, 1887





   south face of column base inscription:



J.F. Looney

Born: Sept. 25, 1858

Died: Sept. 23, 1887





   west face of column base inscription:



J.R. Looney

Born: Dec. 05, 1824

Died: June 03, 1881





There are two footstones with initials: J.F.L. & M.L.
