FAIRVIEW CEMETERY OF NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TEXAS

FAIRVIEW CEMETERY INFORMATION

The Fairview Cemetery is located on the grounds of the Fairview Methodist Church. The church was originally known as the Pine Grove Church when it was organized in the 1860's. Land was donated by A. J. Muckleroy for the church and school and is used for the cemetery. This is a Historic Texas Cemetery containing the graves of 150 U.S. veterans. The earliest marked grave is for Emma C. Menefee dated 1847 although some unmarked graves may be from earlier dates. This information is from a Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel article printed in March 2003.

From Billie Wingate:

We made a promise to Paul Kendrick to do Fairview Cemetery and are glad we could do it. The Kendricks of Melrose have been friends of our family for many years.

Buck Lee and I are related to all of Peter Pruitt descendants. Of the 7 children, 5 are buried in Fairview.  At least 4 to 5 more generations have been laid to rest there.

Buck has worked hard to see each Civil War Veteran has a marker and the family of any veteran that does not have one should contact the service officer to start the paperwork to get a marker.
