"Hap" Rogers, 86, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2007 in the Central Church of Christ with Eben Emerson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Mr. Rogers was born May 4, 1920 in Vernon where he grew up and attended schools. He married Earline Capps on July 12, 1941 in Fredrick, OK. She died April 26, 2006. He earned his Master's degree from West Texas State University in Canyon. He was a coach in Duncan, Okla., Lawton, Okla., McLain, TX, Amarillo, TX and finally Tulia, TX. He was an insurance agent for Southwestern Life Insurance Company since 1960 where he won numerous awards including being a member of the Million Dollar Round Table for several years. He was also on the State Insurance Board. He was a past president of the Tulia Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters: Penny Sturgess and husband Larry of Tulia and Suzy Arnold of Midland, one son, Jessie Rogers of Post; two brothers, Nute Rogers of Dallas and Jack Rogers of Vernon; 9 grandchildren, Melanie Beedy and husband Mark of Floydada, TX, M'Lynda Moss of Tulia, Amber Sturgess of Richmond, California, Biff Sturgess of Houston, Evan Rogers of Dallas, Jay Rogers of Dallas, Ryan Rogers of Brownwood, Jai Ja White of Midland, and Shai McMorries and husband Vance of Tarzan, TX, 11 great grandchildren; Lauren Embry and husband Kyle of Grapevine, TX, J.W. Nobile of London, England, Jace Nobile of Tulia, Charmynee Arnold of Tarzan, Ariel Arnold of Tarzan, Jesika White of Midland, Hailey Arnold of Midland, Kinley McMorries of Tarzan, Chase Mitchell of Lubbock, Taylor Beedy of Floydada and Lindsey Beth Beedy of Floydada and 1 great, great grandchild; Audry Nobile of Tulia. He is preceded in death by his wife, Earline Rogers, one grandson, Jayde Arnold, one great grandson, Cortlyn Arnold. Memorials may be made to the High Plains Children's Home, 11461 S.
