Midland Co., Texas - Obits: Doralene Flanagan Robnett ===================================================== Submitted to the Martin County, TXGenWeb by: Michelle White ===================================================== Doralene Flanagan Robnett was born in Courtney, Texas in rural in Martin County on May 1, 1923 to Webb and Lila Flanagan. She passed away on December 9, 2006. She attended Courtney public schools, graduating as Valedictorian from Courtney High School in 1940 and from Texas Technological College in 1944 with a degree in Business Administration. She married William Edward Robnett, Sr. in Lubbock on Feb. 5, 1943. She moved with her husband to California during the 1947 San Francisco 49er football season. Doralene was a stay at home mom and was a housewife until 1966 during the time her children were at home. In the summer of 1963, she re-enrolled at Texas Technological College and received her teaching certification in Secondary English. She coached and was a PE instructor in Stanton prior to moving to Midland in 1967. She taught Secondary English at Midland ISD from 1967. In 1983, she and her husband returned to Stanton, where she taught 2nd grade until her retirement in 1991. Doralene entered Manor Park Mabee Health Care in Midland in 2001, where she resided until her passing. She maintained her permanent residence in Stanton. Doralene was a Christian and member of First Baptist Church of Stanton and later in Midland. She loved unconditionally and was loved by her family and all who knew her. She was frequently visited by her former students. She was a member of the Greatest Generation and passed on to her family, friends and students the lessons learned during that time. Some of her fondest memories were the Glutton Club dinners on 5th Street in Stanton with Doc and Mary Catherine Bristow, Stanley and June Reid and Glen and Jerry Gates. She was an avid Midland MidCity Little League and Midland High School Bulldog fan. Doralene was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father and sister, Mary Francis Flanagan Rogers. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Bizzell and husband Gary of Hale Center, three sons, William Edward Robnett, Jr. of Monterey, California, Stephen Webb Robnett and wife Amy of Midland and Jeffrey Todd Robnett and wife Dila of Midland. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Dr. Sky Bizzell and of Dimmit, Pipar Mason of Slaton, Courtney Robnett of College Station, Spencer Robnett of College Station, Claire Robnett of Midland, Brenna Robnett of Midland and Oliver Robnett of Midland. Also surviving are 5 great- grandchildren. Also a sister, Mat Jones and husband Ralph of Ft. Worth, a niece, Connie Langston of Ft. Worth and a nephew Webb Jones of Ft. Collins, Colorado. The Robnett family would like to thank Home Hospice and Manor Park Mabee Health Care Center for their unyielding care. Services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at First Baptist Church in Stanton. Interment will follow at Stanton Evergreen Cemetery.
