Murphy 45, dies in home fire. Services Tuesday S.L. Murphy 45, died early Sunday in a fire in his home, at 904 South Terrell Street. Fire officials said they believed the blaze was caused by smoking in bed, they said Murphy had made an attempt to get out of his bed. but apparently was overcome by smoke. Justice of The Peace, John Biggs is witholding a ruling pending autopsy results. Services will be at 2pm Tuesday at the Newnie W. Ellis Chapel with the Rev. Ronald G. Etheridge pastor of the First United Pentacostal Church officating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Murphy was born Sept 19, 1929 in Saint Jo, he was reared in east Texas, and at Seagraves and moved to Midland in 1952. He had worked in the olifields most of his life, at the time of his death he was employed by Yellow Cab Company. He was a Baptist, NOTE: Sidney Lee Murphy is the son of James Calup Murphy & Annie Lee Glass Murphy.
