Midland Co., Texas - Obits: Dana Hillger Cook ===================================================== Submitted to the Martin County, TXGenWeb by: Michelle White ===================================================== Dana Hillger Cook, 36, of Garden City, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, February 1, 2007. A Vigil/Rosary service officiated by Rev. Francis Njoku will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 4, 2007 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2007, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Rev. Francis Njoku, Rev. Bernard Getigan and Rev. Tom Barley, officiating. Interment will follow at Garden City Cemetery. Dana was born March 17, 1970 in Big Spring, Texas to Dale and Jo Ann Hillger. She was a sixth generation Hillger to live in Glasscock County. Dana was raised in the St. Lawrence Community and graduated from Garden City High School. She went on to pursue her education at Sul Ross University and then on to Angelo State University where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two wonderful children and a loving and devoted wife. Dana was a teacher at Glasscock County ISD where she was loved by all her students and her fellow faculty members. Her involvement with the students in the PIPS program was her pride and joy. She was very proud to be in the education field. Dana was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and served recently as an officer of the St. Theresa Altar Society. Dana coached Garden City teams that participated at the Big Spring YMCA Basketball League. Dana inherited her beautiful smile from her Daddy and always kept that smile on her face, just like her Daddy. Dana loved her brothers dearly and she was so proud of her nephews with all their accomplishments - she was their cool aunt. Survivors include her children, Marcus Ryan Cook and Britni Ann Cook; her mother, Jo Ann Hillger; two brothers, Mike Hillger and wife, Nancy, Scott Hillger and wife, Andrea; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Omer and Jade Cook; two sisters-in-law, Sheila Draper and husband, Tooter, and Ann Beaver and husband, Cannon; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, one niece and very special friends, Kenny, Vicki, and Leslie Batla and Candy Jones. She is gone, but not forgotten and will live on with each of us in our hearts. Dana was preceded in death by her father, Dale Roy Hillger and her grandparents. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Justin Hillger, Darren Hillger, Brian Hillger, Trey Hillger and Kevin Hillger. Steve Long will also be a pallbearer.
