St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery
Back Home Up Next

St. John's Lutheran Church was founded in the late 1850's by Rev. A. Kitterer and was served by all pastors serving at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Quihi. Two wooden churches were built, one in 1856, another in 1891. In 1949 the St. John's congregation decided to merge with Bethlehem Lutheran at Quihi. A large majority of the members moved their membership there. The church building later was sold and a trust fund established for the upkeep of the cemetery located on church property.1

LOCATION: Just north of FM 2676 on the east side of the intersection of CR 251 and CR 441 near the Verde Creek.

NOTE: The following tombstone inscriptions were copied word for word, line for line.  Tombstones identifying more than one grave are identified by a hyphen (1-2).  Underlined information is relative to all graves or burials sharing a common tombstone.  FS signifies footstone.  A slash (/) indicates the end of a line.  Information in italics (italics) represents comments or observations made by the transcriber or are from other sources as noted..
