"Haass Settlement," Medina
County
LOCATION: About 7 miles from Castroville
off Highway 90 on Farm Market 1343 and County Road 4514. The cemetery is located
about two hundred feet from the George L. and Anna Haass homestead. This land
which the cemetery is on is no longer part of the Haass homestead.
NOTE: The following tombstone inscriptions were copied word for word, line for
line. Tombstones identifying more than one grave are identified by a hyphen
(1-2). Underlined information is relative to all graves or burials sharing a common
tombstone. FS signifies footstone. A slash (/) indicates the end of
a line. Information in italics (italics ) represents comments or observations made
by the transcriber or are from other sources as noted.

FS - W. J. H.; Son of George L. and Anna Haass; Walter Haass died
May 10, 1900, Sunday at 5 P.M. His death was caused by an accident
near Dunlay when his foot became caught in a rope fastened to the
saddle and he was dragged to death by his horse.1 |

Zion Lutheran Church states that Anna Barbara Taeschler, a Lutheran,
age 77 years, 5 mos.; died at Francisco Mar. 24, 1881, and was
buried at Francisco Mar. 25, 1881. Rev. Pfennig officiated. Death
was from old age. Born in 1803 in Switzerland, she came to America
with her husband and children in 1846; mother of Anna Haass nee
Teschler. |
