Located
three miles south of Jefferson on the old Marshall Road.
This cemetery was the family cemetery of the Walkers, a prominent Marion parish family, who lived on the "Walker Place Farm" prior to the Civil War. Orginally eight graves were marked here, seven with monuments. Only one remained in 1960 when the last survey was done. |
NAME | BIRTH | DEATH |
Collins, Robert Walker | 1869 | 1869 |
The only marked grave at Walker Cemetery that remained when a survey was done in November of 1960. According to the transcription for the book "Cemetery Records of Marion County 1846 to June 1960" there were eight graves, seven marked by 1915. The book speculates that the marble monuments, described as substantial, were stolen because of their valuable stone. |
Please note that
as hard as we try, we are human. Sometimes we miss a
grave here and there. If you know of an interment that
is not listed here, unmarked graves, cemetery history,
have added information for an interment, or have a
gravesite picture you would like to see added, please
contact the county coordinator. Our goal is to put as
much information online as is possible. Copyright © 1997-present by TXGenWeb. This information may be used by individuals for their own personal use, libraries and genealogical societies.
