Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2011, at Oakwood Cemetery in Jefferson. Arrangements are by Haggard Funeral Home. Mrs. Akin was born July 4, 1936, in Marshall, and died August 18, 2011, in Longview. Visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2011, following the services, at the church Parish Hall. Graveside services, with full military honors, JEFFERSON for
Chief Master Sgt. Thomas B. "Tom" Brown, retired, age
76, of Jefferson, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011, at
Old Foundry Cemetery, with Chaplin Don Ross officiating, under
the direction of Haggard Funeral Home of Jefferson. Visitation
will be from 6-8 p.m. today, August 19, 2011, in the Capt. Wm.
Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home.
Mr. Brown was born July 8, 1935, in Doddridge, Arkansas, to
Barron Scott Brown and Grace May Bryant Brown. He was a retired
aircraft technician with the U.S. Air Force for 24 years, a
member of the Retired Enlisted Association and a member of the
44th Bombardment Wing. Mr. Brown was also an avid catfish
fisherman and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda June Brown;
and daughter, Sandy Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Brown of Jefferson; children,
Tammy Pence and husband, Charle,s of Alta Vista, Kan., Scott
Brown and wife, Kelly, of Shreveport, La., and Barbra Cox and
husband, Shawn, of Jefferson; stepdaughters, Pamela Williams and
husband, Bobby, of Avinger, and Patricia McAlexander of Jefferson
and their children and grandchildren; sister; Barbra Ann Gibbs of
Texarkana, Texas; brother, John Brown and wife, Maureen, of
Cabot, Ark.; nine grandchildren, Charles Daigle, James Daigle,
Christopher Daigle, Chuck Pence, Rachel Brown, Lauren Brown,
Amber Grimmett, Ryan Cox and Josh Cox; and eight
great-grandchildren, BrieAnna, Kaitlynn, William, Maximus,
Hunter, Kaya, Mallory and Emily.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital or the charity of your choice.

JEFFERSON — Services for Bunnie Mae Carr, of Marshall, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Coverson Cemetery.
