CHAPTER TWO
CLAN FERRILL in North Carolina

Richard Ferrill was born ca 1665, in the Northeast area of North Carolina which was later to be known as Bute County,  established in 1764,  from Granville County.

The names of the parents of  Richard Ferrill are not known to us.
Richard married, but we do not know the surname or given name of his spouse.  It is presumed that his genealogical origins lay in Ireland, we presume to have been central Ireland.

John Ferrill was born to Richard Ferrill and his spouse.  1695 appears to be the year of John's birth.  John married Ann Bryant, born 1697,  parents not known to us; it is presumed that she was born in the same  general area of the state as John.

Children born to John and Ann were;
Bryant 1st, born ca 1720;
John Jr, born 1723;
William 1st, born 1725;
Patty, born 1732;
Temple, born 1734;
Frankie, born 1734;
Clancy, born 1738;
Elizabeth, born 1740;
Polly, born 1742;
Penelope, born 1744.

We do not have information on date or place of death for Richard  Ferrill. John Ferrill died in January 1786, in Bute County as it was constituted at the time.

Many North Carolinians drew up an Oath of Allegiance  to the State of  North Carolina.  The Oath was  administered by justices of the peace of  the county districts.   The Oath of Allegiance was administered during  the time 1774-1804.  In  ‘Captain Bryant Ferrill’s District, Bryant 1st was one of those who signed the oath.   In Mr. Norris’s District, John 1st and William Ferrill signed the oath.

[William Ferrill]
William married, but his wife's name is not known to us.  Born in North to that marriage were:
I     Byrd, born ca 1760
II    Benjamin Ferrill, born 1765;
III   Bryant T Ferrill 2nd, born 1769;
III   Archelous, born 1772.

We have used editing marks,  so that the reader may more easily follow our narrative..

I    Byrd Ferrill married Sarah Magruder.  Children born to that marriage were;
William 2nd ,
Williamson;
John 2nd;
Sara;
Elizabeth;
Nancy;
Polly;
Bennett;
 Mickelberry.

It is likely that the children of Byrd Ferrill and Sarah Magruder Ferrill were born in North Carolina.

II   Benjamin married in North Carolina.

III  Bryant 2nd did not marry in North Carolina.  He did marry  in Georgia [See Chapter Three - CLAN FERRILL in Georgia]
