While she is buried in Freestone Co.,
she lived in Leon Co. from at least
1870-1920.
GRANDMA DAVIDSON
Mrs. Joyce Adeline Davidson, lovingly called "Grandma"
Davidson by all who knew her died at her home in Donie last
Monday morning at 7:30 o'clock at the age of 76 years, 7
months and 6 days. Her death was the result of the ravages
of the dread cancer.
Mrs. Davidson was born in Arkansas,
March 20 1849 and came with her parents
to Freestone County, Teas immediately
after the Civil War. she was married
when 19 years of age to J. J. Vann and
to this union five children were born,
four of whom survive. After the death
of Mr. Vann, she was united in marriage
to W. R. Davidson to which union five
children were born, all of whom survive.
In early girlhood she professed religion
and united with the Methodist Protestant
church and throughout her long and
useful life was a devout church worker.
With the sole responsibility of providing for and rearing a
large family thrown upon her early in life,
was nevertheless happy in her task and lived to see her
children grown into manhood and womanhood and take their
place in their respective professions and become real assets
to the country.
Deceased is survived by 9 children who are W. T. Vann, Brownsville; J. M. Vann,
Buffalo; Miss Fronie Vann, Donie; Mrs.
Hannah Jane Evans, Marquez; Mrs. S. L.
Blair, Clebburne; Dr. N. A. Davidson
Harlingen; Mrs. J. HJ. Windham, Donie;
Dr. Jethro D. Davidson, Teague; M Fronie
rs. E. H. Bottoms, Corsicana.
Funeral services were conducted at the
Methodist church in Donie Tuesday
morning at 11 o'clock by Rev. G. W.
Bounds of Wortham. Burial was made at
11 o'clock in the Post Oak Cemetery in
the presence of a large crowd of
sorrowing relatives and friends.
