Dear Brethren;
We have been hindered this quarter on account of so much
sickness. Have never seen so much sickness before. Have visited as many as
32 in one day. However during this terrible scourge our people have been
loyal and faithful and have received us kindly this our fourth year.
Death has visited two of our houses. Brother Geo. TAFT lost a child, and one of
our members, Sister ELLIS of North Zulch died.
Sunday school is doing as well as could be expected under present conditions

Our Sunday school is doing good work. The attendance is good, but not what it should
be. We have no worker's council, nor teachers training class. We have

Sunday school has raised $25.00 for missions.

Pastors Report on Spiritual State of the Church
We have only one Sunday School on the Charge. We have begun special efforts
for the enlargement of our Sunday School here. A teachers meeting was well
attended last week, and this is to be continued. We hope and expect that our
school will be a vital agency for the salvation of the boys and girls.
The attendance yesterday was 87, which is sitting the work in advance
considerably.
The Epworth league is not doing the best work, but we are making an effort to make it
go, and expect to see it move out. We are boosting the Sunday School along
with our Thursday evening prayer service and find that the two interests go
well together.
The Church services are well attended. The house was fairly well filled yesterday. We
received one into the Church at the evening service on Profession of faith,
JACK BATTLE.
We have made plans to have a revival meeting either the last of July or first of Aug. and
have invited Bo. N. H. MELBERT, pastor at Brenham to assist us. We are
confidently expecting the blessing of God upon our Church.
Sincerely
J. C. LANIER, P. C.

Report from the Preacher in Charge on the General state of the Church.
During the past few weeks Mrs. Lee HOLLIS, Mrs. T. P. BATTLE, and MRS. J. C.
LANIER have been getting together the children of the junior and
intermediate age for Sunday afternoon League work.
Our present difficulty is in finding literature out of which they can be given work
suitable to their age.
Our Sunday School here is doing good work, and while there is yet room for improvement
and enlargement, it has in the past few months decidedly improved both in
attendance and in interest. The present attendance is around a hundred,
Sometimes more and again a few under but is increasing both in attendance
and in interest with each passing week.
Several of the classes have doubled in average attendance. We had Children's Day
Program last Sunday evening. The children rendered an exceptionally fine
program to a house filled to the limit. Mrs. Dewit HINES and Mrs. E. H.
BROWN superintending.
We have not been preaching as yet expressly to the children, but have laid emphasis upon
the necessity for early Christian culture, and expect after the educational
programs of the church has been realized, to preach regularly to the
children
We have received into the church at North Zulch, Bro. A. N. MCKINZIE, who came by
certificate. We have granted certificates to the following people who had
moved away and desired to unite with the Churches where they lived. Mr. V.
L. WARD, Mrs. V. L. WARD and Mrs. J. F. DAVENPORT.
Our Women's Missionary Society is very much alive and growing. I believe the attendance
has at least doubled and a number of new members have been added to the
roll. They are doing fine work.
The prayer meeting is well attended. We do not devote the time wholly to prayer and the
singing of songs, but we discuss the Sunday school topic for the next Sun.,
and have a round table discussion, some of the laymen leading
By request of the stewards and other leaders, the date for the revival meeting for

Report of P. C.
Our Sunday School at Normangee is doing good work.
This being the period of the year for vacations and also for revival meetings, there seems
to have been a slackening up in some branches of the work. The regular prayer
meeting doesn't meet during a revival meeting at either of the three churches.
Also, at these times there are some who go direct to the church at which the
revival is in progress, and so do not appear at Sunday School.
There have been several revival efforts at both Normangee and North Zulch. At Normangee we
had a good meeting at our Church. They were large crowds in attendance and good
attention given thru out the meeting. We baptized two infants, the daughter of
Bro. Arthur SANDEL and wife and little Bernice WIMBERLY, daughter of Bro. D. S.
WIMBERLY and his wife. We received three into the Church on profession of faith;
Mrs. Viola CARTER, Miss Louise FLETCHER, and our own daughter, Emma Lou.
We begin today our revival meeting at North Zulch. Bro. W. O (C?) BUY? from
Terrell is to be here tomorrow and will do the preaching, beginning tomorrow
night.
We are praying for--working for, and expecting a general moving up of the whole church
work. The Church at Normangee had a great spiritual uplift.

Report of Pastor on general state of the Church
We believe the general state of the church on the charge is good. Our League
here is getting some new life. Out of the corps of new teachers for this
year we are fortunate in having a young lady, Miss BAY added to our League
forces. There is a certain lassitude --a spirit of relaxation, which comes
with summer, and which affects church activities, and which our own church
has not entirely escaped, on this account the S. S. attendance is not up to
the high water mark of the spring just passed. On the whole however, the
work of the church is going on with regularity and punctuality.
Since last quarterly conference we have organized one good Sunday School. We began at
Hollis following a good meeting in the summer, and started with a membership
of 62. The membership has since grown to 100 or more.
We have received into the church on profession of faith the following new members
this quarter six altogether; Mrs. Jerry SMITH, Howard POTEET, Ethel POTEET,
Clara Bell POTEET--MIDDLETON & HIBBITS. We have also received one by letter
and one by vows.
The Woman's Missionary Society is doing good work. The ladies are working faithfully at
the job. Some new material has been added during the past quarter.
We hope to wind up the year’s work on a hundred per cent basis.

To the Presiding Elder and members of the first Quarterly Conference of Normangee
Charge, Marlin District, Texas Conference
Dear Brethren:
I submit the following. We have one League, while small we
are expecting good to be done among our young people through this channel.
Sunday School-- We have two schools. One at Normangee which is doing good work,
though not what we can do and will do when the weather gets settled.
Spiritual State---- We are not what we should be by a great deal. Our congregations
have been very good and I think increasing. The weather has hindered quite a
lot.
We have received three by certificate, Mrs. D. W. GARDNER, Walton, and Aletha
GARDNER
Pastoral visits---95 We always try to look after the children and the sick,
We have made The children of today is the Church of tomorrow.
Brethren join me in prayer for a great revival. My prayer and slogan is a great revival in
each home so that the charge can truly be a great factor in the District for
good, and early collections of the claims ordered by the Annual Conference.
Yes----and a family alter in each home.
Respectfully
D. W. GARDNER, P.C.

To the Presiding Elder and members of the
Second Quarterly Conference of Normangee Charge, Marlin District, Texas
Conference.
Dear Brethren I submit the following: We have two Leagues: both are moving
along nicely and doing good work, and we are planning for much and lasting
good to be accomplished among our young people. Our people must be loyal if
we expect God to bless us.
Sunday School: We have two, one at Hollis, and one at Normangee. So far as I can
learn the school at Hollis is well attended. The Normangee Sunday School is
growing under the leadership of E. C. PHIFER, who is very much interested in
this great work to which he has been assigned.
The pupils as a whole are taking more interest than usual in Sunday School work. We try to
get the children to stay for church.
Spiritual state of Church: The general condition of the Church is not what it should
be by any measure nor what it could be, While it is true the congregations
are growing and seem to be interested. We are looking forward and praying
for and out pouring of the Holy Spirit and expecting a great number to be
saved and unite with the Church.
We have received by letter 10. J. R. LESSANE, Mrs. J. R. LESSANE, Rich LESSANE,
Sherman LESSANE, T. T. SHERMAN, G. H. STEPHENS, Ona STEPHENS, Mary Ruth
HIBBETTS. Infants baptized three.
Our W. H. Missionary Society is doing good work
Our young girls are organized and doing good work
Pastoral visits:---
It is our aim to do all we can for the children.
Let each of us pray that God will abundantly pour out His Spirit upon the Church.
Yours

Dear Brethren:
I submit the following--
We have two Leagues. The seniors are going forward under the leadership of Miss
FLETCHER. They are taking more interest than usual. Hence we are expecting
much to be done through this arm of the church. Juniors: This band of
workers are being lead by Miss DUNKLIN, whose head and heart is full of
plans for the Masters Kingdom. So we are expecting great things of these
young leaguers.
Sunday School---We have one school, which is moving up to greater and better work
than usual. The school as a whole is moving forward and trying to accomplish
some thing. Brother PHIFER is anxious for all to do their best, that
much good may be accomplished. The children are being looked after
along with other lines of work of the pastor, for we are aware of the fact
that ere long these children will be the church.
Prayer meeting: This arm of the church is growing in numbers and in
interest. I am very proud to say.
Spiritual state of the church: I think as a whole we are an average
church going people. While it is true there are some who go but little, yet
they go to other things. I am frank to say I don’t understand why they do
not attend church.
