The story as told to Herbert H. McCarter by the Langley’s

Joe Langley had picked out the place where he wanted to build his home some time ago on what is now called CR 121.  It is a beautiful place on the East Side of the road with a panoramic view across the valley with Pine Mountain to the west.  Joe’s daddy had worked all around these parts for years and knew of the tombstones.  He would not let Joe bulldoze them down, so Joe incorporated them into his landscape.  Some time after the homes was built, Joe came home to find three vanloads of people on his place.  They were some kin to the Sanches family.  They were also trying to find Mr. Sanches’ grave, who they said had died and was buried somewhere between Oakwood and Palestine.  Joe later received a card signed by the Zapata’s thanking them for preserving this little gravesite and their Heritage.

These people did not live here.   They were traveling through when the wife and two children died.  This land is a part of the old Frank Tubb Place in the Ramon De La Garza Survey.
