Jesse Martin Combs
Jesse Martin Combs was born in Center, Shelby County, Texas on 7 July 1889. He was admitted to the bar in 1918 and practiced in Kountze, Texas. He was County Judge of Hardin County, Texas from 1919 to 1920. He was District Judge of the 75th District from 1923 to 1925. He was Associate Justice of the Ninth Court of Civil Appeals from 1933 to 1943. He was president and a member of the board of trustees of South Park Schools from 1926 to 1940. He was president of the board of trustees of Lamar College from 1940 to 1944. He served as a Democrat in Congress from 3 January 1945 to 3 January 1953. He died in Beaumont, Texas on 21 August, 1953. He is buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, Texas. |
