TANTABOGUE
CREEK.
Tantabogue
Creek rises two miles southwest of
Crockett in south central Houston
County (at 31°17' N, 95°30' W).
The creek
formerly flowed southeast for
twenty-six miles to its mouth on
White Rock Creek in western Trinity
County (at 31°01' N, 95°21' W).
Since the construction of Lake
Livingston in the late 1960s the
creek has been inundated in its
lower reaches. It crosses flat
terrain surfaced by clay and sandy
loam that supports water-tolerant
hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
