FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR R. A. PARKER AT NEW PROSPECT Robert Alonzo Parker, Sr Born 2-7-1875; died 8-8-1943 Funeral services for R. A. (Bob) Parker were held at the graveside with interment following in the Parker Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, with Rev. A. Frank, pastor of the Grapeland Methodist circuit officiating, assisted by Rev. Frank E. Luker of Kirbyville. Mr. Parker died in a Houston hospital Sunday morning where he was carried several days before for examinationand treatment. He has been at the home of his brother in Lufkin several weeks, and had been in failing health for several months. He was a native of New Prospect community, having been born there May 7, 1875, and resided there all of his life, with the exception of a year or two when he lived in Grapeland. Mr. Parker was well known in Elkhart and had many friends here. He is servived by four sons, Leonard of Midway; R. A. Jr., J. B. and Sam of Grapeland; two daughters, Mrs. T. E. Hunter of Laredo, and Mrs. Mary Robertson of Palestine; nine grandchildren; two brothers, S. R. Parker of Lufkin, Jim Parker of Palestine; two sisters, Mrs. Jim Owens of Richardson, Mrs. W. H. Whitescarver of Crockett.
