Mr. Elvin Carlton Gibson, 61, of Houston, died in that city Tuesday. Mr. Gibson was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Waller Chapel, with the Rev. J. V. Lewis and the Rev. J. T. Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Hill Cemetery. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Oma Dell Gibson of Houston; two sons, Terry and Gerald Gibson, both of Houston; two brothers, Jack Gibson of Crockett and Henry Gibson of Kennard; three sisters, Mrs. Jimmy Troutman and Mrs. Lena Bruce, both o Kennard, and Mrs. Grace Gunnels of Crockett; three grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lula Mae Gibson, 63, of Crockett, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 10, in a local hospital. Mrs. Gibson was born on April 6, 1909, in Houston County, and was a lifelong resident of this county. She was a member of the Ivie Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Callaway Memorial Chapel, with Rev. E. D. Sarratt officiating. Interment was in the Ivie Cemetery, near Kennard. Pallbearers were Robin Coppedge, Dudley Pyle, James Gunnels, Arlon Gunnels, Jim Selman and James Thomas, Survivors include the husband, Louis Jackson Gibson of Crockett; three daughters, Mrs. Paul May of Crockett, Mrs. Boyce Gilbert of Houston and Mrs. Harvey Suttle Jr. of Nineveh; two sons, Jack Gibson Jr. of Cypress and Lonnell Gibson of Houston; five sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Selman, Mrs. Rosie Selman, and Mrs. Thelma Munzinger, all of Crockett, Mrs. Gertie McGuire of Elkhart and Miss Helen Hale of Dallas; two brothers, John Hale of Crockett and Cecil Hale of Houston; her mother, Mrs. Tallie Hale of Crockett; and 14 grandchildren. Mr. Gibson, a resident of Kennard, died Feb. 11 in Houston County Hospital. He was born Jan. 11, 1905 in Oklahoma and had lived in Houston County since 1930. He was a member of the Ivie Church. Rites Held For Giles Infant Sherry Lynn Giles Funeral services for little Sherry Lynn Giles, 2 months, of Route 6, Box 131A, Palestine, (Montalba) were held Sunday, October 20, at 2:30 p.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel, Palestine, with the Rev. Theo Johnson officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Park, Palestine. Pallbearers were Roger Vance, Veri Vance, Glenn White, and Bill Kubin. Sherry Lynn was born August 9, 1974 in Palestine in James Ralph Giles and Judy Ann Parker Giles, and she died Friday afternoon in her home following a sudden illness. Marcus Edward Giller
Funeral services for Marcus Edward Giller, 71, of Route 3, Grapeland, were held Thursday, February 27, at 4:00 p.m. in the Church of Christ, Grapeland, with James W. Mosley officiating. Burial was in the Livelyville Cemetery, near Grapeland, under the direction of Hassell & Foster. Pallbearers: Floyd Salmon, Clean Salmon, G. W. Marshall, Herman Earl Owens, Homer martin and Don Giller. Mr. Giller was born in Illinois on June 7, 1903, a son of Frank and Ida R. Giller and he died Wednesday, February 26,, at 2:15 p.m. in a Grapeland hospital following a brief illness. A retired farmer, he had resided at Route 3, Grapeland for the past year. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Belle Pennington Giller, on July 1, 1953. Survivors: mother, Mrs. Ida Giller, Pearsall; a daughter, Mrs. G. W. (Marcellee) Ivey of Houston; a brother, Francis Giller, Pearsall; a sister-in-law, Mrs. H. L. Masters of Grapeland.

Mrs. Bryant (Ola C.) Gilmore, of Route 3, Grapeland, died Friday, July 14, in Memorial Hospital at the age of 79. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Slocum United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Barfield officiating. Burial followed in the Strong Memorial Park. Pallbearers for the funeral were E. W. Monk, Thomas T. Wright, George F. Mrs. Gilmore was a native and lifelong resident of Anderson County and a member of the Slocum United Methodist Church. She as born March 12, 1895, in Houston County, and was a member of the Lovelady Church of Christ. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Lovelady Church of Christ, with Mr. Dayton Lee of Trinity and Mr. George McKinney of Crockett officiating. Mrs. Mildred Durst Giraud died May 9 in Rome, Italy. Mrs. Giraud, a native of Calvert, lived in Houston many years before moving to Rome 15 years ago. Mr. Goff was born March 26, 1894 in the Denson Springs community, and was a son of the late Henry Clay Goff and Mrs. Finecia Reed Goff. He died Tuesday, Oct 21, at 8 a.m. in the home of his brother, Van B. Goff, near Round Rock, Texas. He was reared at Denson Springs, and farmed at Hickory Grove a number of years. After retiring, he moved to Slocum, and was a member of the Slocum Baptist Church. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Carrie Cooper Goff of Slocum; a daughter, Mrs. Coy W. (Loretta) Miles of Houston; four brothers, Earon N. Goff of Rusk, Van B. Goff of Leander, Clarence G. Goff of Palestine, and L. D. Goff of Rockdale; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Johnston and Mrs. Carlton Lively, both or Grapeland; two grandchildren, James Miles and Miss Margie Miles, both of Houston; a number of nieces and nephews.

Army; three sisters, Ida Clements, Stacia Reed, and Becky Harrelson, all of Huntsville; two brothers, John Robert and Lon Goodrum, both of Houston; 16 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Mrs. Sarah Janie Goodson
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Janie Goodson, 85, of 9426 Laney Vale Avenue, Dallas, former Houston County resident, were held Friday, Feb. 5, at the graveside in Parker Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Craig officiating. Burial was in Parker Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers. A native of Texarkana, Arkansas, Mrs. Goodson was born Dec. 19, 1874. She died in a Texarkana hospital Tuesday, Feb 2, at 5:30 p.m. following a short illness. Survivors: two sons, Clyde V. Goodson of Texarkana, Arkansas; a daughter, Mrs. Othella Stephens of Timpson, Texas; two brothers, Jim and Dakery Peavy of Fort Worth; 22 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Remains were brought to Hassell & Foster, Grapeland, Friday morning and were there until carried to the cemetery for graveside services.

Cleet E. Goodson
Mr. Cleet E. Goodson, 78, of Kennard died Monday in a Lufkin hospital. Mr. Goodson was a lifelong resident of Houston County. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Ivie Church, with Rev. L. B. Broach officiating. Burial was in the Ivie Cemetery. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Dona Lee Goodson of Kennard; a brother, Willie Goodson of Kennard; two sisters, Mrs. Cora Gates of Kennard and Mrs. Lucy Causlet of Maydelle; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Waller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
