Alfred Lee Foster
Mr. Alfred Lee Foster, 62, of Houston, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, in a
Houston hospital. Mr. Foster, registrar for Durham Business College, was
born Sept, 22, 1907, in Groveton. He was a member of the South East
Baptist Church. Mr. Foster was a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. R.
Foster of Crockett. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the
First Methodist Church of Crockett, with Rev. J. H. Rhodes, pastor of
the church, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Travis Moore, Jacob Dudley Woodson, Johnny Carl Foster,
Dan Foster Jr., Frank Foster Jr., and Jim Ezell. Survivors include two
sons, Alfred Lee Foster, Jr. and Stephen C. Foster, both of Houston; a
daughter, Mrs. Donna Boyd of Houston; his father, John Robert Foster Jr.
of Houston ; two brothers, F. D. Foster and J. R. Foster III, both of
Houston; a sister, Mrs. Clara Margaret Moers of Houston; and six

Elbert Foster
Mr. Elbert Foster, 72, of Latexo, died in the Veterans Hosptial
in Houston Monday following a brief illness. Mr. Foster, born March 12,
1893 in Kyle, was a veteran of World War I. Funeral services were held
at 4 p.m. Tuesday from the Callaway Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Terry
Cashion, Latexo Baptist pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Latexo
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Nolan Huff, Mike Lansford, Melvin Currie,
Ernest Bowdoin, Charles English and Charles Lively. Survivors include
the wife, Mrs. Rosie Lee Foster of Latexo; a son, Elbert Lee Foster of
Crockett; a sister, Mrs. Sam Scruggs of Austin; and several nieces and

John Henry Foster
Funeral services for John Henry Foster, 69, were held at 4 p.m. Jan. 26
in the Callaway Memorial Chapel. Officiating were Elder Anderson, Elder
Olson, Elder Wright, and Elder Crowson. Burial was in the Antioch
Cemetery near Lovelady. Mr. Foster, a resident of Lovelady, died Jan.
24, in Huntsville Memorial Hospital. He was born May 13, 1905 in
Comanche. He was a member of the Lathrop Lodge 21 AF & AM and the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include his widow, Mrs.
Mable Foster of Lovealdy; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Myers of Houston and
Mrs. Emily Walker of Gatesville; a son. Robert Eugene Foster of Houston.
Also, two step-sons, Clifton Whitehead and Clifford Whitehead, both of
Houston; a step-daughter, Mrs. Leoda Barrilleaux of Sulphur, La.,; five
grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and
two step-great greandchildren. And four brothers, Tom Foster and George
Foster, both of Madisonville, Edgar Foster of Coldsprings, and Heber
Foster of Crosby; and four sisters, Mrs. Annie Peterson of Tangent,
Ore., Mrs. Janie Ross and Mrs. Ella Satterfield, both of Houston, and

Rites Held For Sister of Local Resident
Hazel Marie Foster
Mrs. Hazel Marie Foster of Rusk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Dickson
of Palestine, died at her home Friday morning, January 31, of an
apparent heart attack. She was 40. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m.
Saturday, February 1, in the Wallace Funeral Chapel in Rusk with Grover
Talbert officiating. Burial followed in the Muse Cemetery in Anderson
County. Pallbearers were Ed Dickie, Harold Littlejohn, Earl Ross, Billy
Cornelius, Charles Ray Peters and Arlis Corley. Mrs. Foster was born
July 10, 1934 near Grapeland, and had made her home in Rusk for the past
15 years. A member of the Church of Christ, she was a registered nurse
and was employed by the Rusk State Hospital for 17 years. At the time of
her death, she was employed by Memorial Hospital in Risk and prior to
that had worked for a number of months at Nan Travis Hospital in
Jacksonville. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her
husband, Truman A. Foster, of Risk; two sons, Jackie W. Foster and Ricky
Dean Foster, both of Risk; a brother, Sonny Dickson, of Elkhart; and
three sisters, Mrs. Mona Bennett of Grapeland; Mrs. Fern Gillispie of
Germany; and Mrs. Carol Gammage of Elkhart.
Mrs. Gustie Ann Fowler
Mrs. Gustie Ann Fowler, 84, of Rt. 3, Crockett, died at her home
Wednesday, Nov. 13, following a heart attack. A native of Houston
County, Mrs. Fowler was born on Oct. 29, 1879. She was a member of the
Methodist Church. Funeral services were held from the Callaway Memorial
Chapel at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, with the Reverends Jesse Roberson of
Grapeland and W. L. Gallant of Crockett officiating. Interment was in
the McCarter Cemetery, and pallbearers were Jack Cross, Mack Hearn, Lee
Hearn, Roland Hearn, Kenneth Graham, and G. W. Gooden. Mrs. Fowler is
survived by four sons, James and John of Crockett, William and G. Earl
of Houston; five daughters, Mrs. Mirdie Hearn of Conroe, Mrs. Winnie
Randall and Mrs. Lena Smith of Houston, Mrs. Nannie Bell Raynor of
Baytown, and Mrs. Nodell Jermain of Pasadena; two sisters, Mrs. Velma
Whitaker of Pasadena, Mrs. Mattie McCorkie of Shreveport, La.; a
brother, Grady Grounds of Porter Springs; 16 grandchildren; and several
great-grandchildren. Callaway Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.

Mrs. Lillian L. Fowler
Mrs. Lillian L. Fowler, 66, of Rt. 3, Crockett, died Sunday in a
Grapeland Hospital. Mrs. Fowler had lived in Houston County the last
three years, and was a member of the Full G9ospel Temple. She was a
member of the ladies auxillary of the veterans administration post No.
52, and a social worker. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday
in The Waller Chapel, with Dr. G. H. Stieglitz officiating. Burial was
in the McCarter Cemetery. Survivors include the husband, G. E. Fowler of
Crockett, and several nieces and nephews. Waller Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Martha Gertrude Fox
Mrs. Martha Gertrude Fox, 81, of Elkhart died Tuesday morning in a
Palestine hospital. Mrs. Fox was born in Grapeland and had lived there
most of her life. She was a member of the Elkhart Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist
Church of Grapeland, with Rev. T. J. Seamens and Rev. Don Mize
officiating. Burial was in the Daly's Cemetery. Survivors include a
daughter, Mrs. Milo Pennington and a grandson, J. W. Pennington, both of
Elkhart. Waller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edith Pearl Fowler
Mrs. Edith Pearl Fowler, 82, of Picher, Okla., died Monday, June 29.
Mrs. Fowler, a former resident of Bryan, was a member of the Baptist
Church in Oklahoma. Graveside funeral services were held at 10 a.m.
Friday in the Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors include four nieces and
nephews, all of Oklahoma. Waller Funeral Home was in charge of

Mrs. Tillie Marie Francis, 72, of Rt. 2, Crockett, passed away Friday,
July 28, in a local hospital. Mrs. Francis had lived in Crockett for the
past 30 years. She was retired after 50 years of service in the Oakwood
public school.. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral
services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Waller Chapel, with Rev. H.
J. Rhodes officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include the husband, B. W. Francis of Crockett; a son, Donald
Francis of Houston; two brothers, G. C. and E. O. Cox, both of Houston;

Mrs. L. C. Franklin
Funeral services for Mrs. L. C. Franklin, 73, of Rt. 3, Grapeland
(Slocum), were held Wednesday, April 9, at 11 a.m. in Hassell & Foster
Chapel with the Rev. Oran Hill officiating. Burial was in Guiceland
Cemetery. The following nephews served as pallbearers: Marshall Hodges,
Roland Hodges, Odell Beauchamp, Joe Martin, Bill Grant and Wayne
Franklin. Native and lifelong resident of Slocum, Mrs. Franklin, the
former Miss Jettie Mariam Hodges, was born Nov. 25, 1895, to the late
Robert Francis Hodges and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Clewis Hodges. She died
Monday, April 7, at 5:35 p.m. in a Palestine nursing home following an
illness of several months. She was a member of the Sand Flat Missionary
Baptist Church. Survivors include the husband, Lawson Carl Franklin,
Slocum; three sons, Lewis C. Franklin of Palestine, Francis W. Franklin
of Diboll, and Kenneth D. Franklin of Saratoga; three daughters, Mrs. W.
L. (Veiva) Caskey of Elkhart, Mrs. J. C. (Lulu) Nation and Mrs. W. W.
(Florine) McIver, both of Palestine; three brothers, Jerome A. Hodges of
Kingsland, D. Talmadge Hodges of Palestine, and Weldon Hodges of
Houston; four sisters, Mrs. J. D. (Mary Belle) Pratt of San Antonio,
Mrs. D. F. (Rosa) Leatherwood of Palestine, Mrs. F. E. (Wilma) Sammons
of Houston, and Mrs. O. E. (Hilda) Beauchamp of Grapeland; 16

Miss Bennie Sue Franklin
Funeral services for Miss Bennie Sue Franklin, 18, of Slocum, were held
Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m. in the Evergreen Chapel, Percilla, with the
Rev. Oran Hill and the REv. Wade Hill officiating. Burial was in the
Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were the following classmates and
friends: Jerry Taylor, Baskel Carnes, Kenneth Grant, Royce Fletcher,
Bobby Wortham, Gary Reed, John Lackland, and Johnny Reynolds. Miss
Frankliin was born July 18, 1949, in Anderson County, and died Friday,
March 22, at 5 a.m. in a Dallas hospital. Member of the Sand Flat
Missionary Baptist Church, she was a lifelong resident of Slocum, and
was a 1967 graduate of Slocum High School. Survivors include her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben W. Franklin of Slocum; her finance, Charles
Reynolds of Grapeland and AFB in Denver, Co9lorado; a brother, Sammie
Franklin of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. Bill (Wynell) Grant of
Palestine, Miss Patsy Franklin of Nacogdoches, and Miss Carol Lou
Franklin of Slocum; two nephews, Keith Grant and Mark Franklin.

Homer Franklin
Funeral services for Homer Franklin, 65, of 1501 N. Queen Street,
Palestine, were held Saturday, July 18, at 10 a.m. in the Guiceland
Memorial Chapel, Salmon, with the Rev. Oran Hill and W. W. Cooksey
officiating. Burial was in the Guiceland Cemetery under the direction of
Hassel & Foster. Pallbearers were the following nephews: Wayne Franklin,
Colemn Franklin, Sammy Franklin, Billy Tucker, Tommy Tucker and Vannoy
Tucker. Mr. Franklin was born September 30, 1904 in Prescott, Arkansas
to the late James William Franklin and Mrs. Barbara Alice eagle
Franklin, and he died Thursday, July 16, at 12:55 a.m. in a Palestine
hospital following a lon illness. Resident of Texas most of his life, he
was reared at Solcum, and formerly lived in the Walston Springs
community, and near Elkhart. During World War II, he worked in the
Missouri Pacific Railroad Shops as a blacksmith, and also worked for the
American Railway Express, Palestine. Before returning to Palestine last
February, he lived in Dallas 22 years where he retired as a paint
contractor. He was a member of the Wintergreen Baptist Church of DeSoto.
Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Cecile Campbell Franklin of Palestine;
two daughters, Mrs. Billy B. (Marjorie) Hyett of Dallas, and Mrs.
LaVerne Ives of Allen; four brothers and one sister, Will Franklin of
Palestine; Tex Carl and Ben Franklin, all of Slocum, and Mrs. Barbara
Tucker of Whitehouse; five grandchildren, Mrs. Billy (Cathy) Pell, Mrs.
Dwight (Joan) Barrett, Ricky Ives, Bobby Hyett, and Miss Jan Ives;
several nieces and nephews.

L. C. (Carl) Franklin
Funeral services for L. C. (Carl) Franklin, 80, of Slocum, were held
Tuesday, March 20, at 11:00 am.m in Hassell & Foster Chapel, Palestine
with the Rev. Oran Hill officiating. Burial was in the Guiceland
Cemetery, Salmon. Nephews served as pallvearers. Mr. Franklin was born
in Arkansas on February 15, 1893 to the late J. W. Franklin and Alice
Eagle Franklin, and he died Sunday, March 18, at 5:20 p.m. in a
Palestine hospital following an illness of three weeks. Resident of
Slocum for 70 years, he was a retired farmer and a member of the Sand
Flat Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife,
Mrs. Jettie Marian Hodges Franklin, of April 7, 1969. Survivors three
sons, Lewis C. Franklin of Santa Paula, California, Francis W. Franklin
of Diboll, and Kenneth D. Franklin of Saratoga; three daughters, Mrs. W.
L. (Velva)Caskey of Grapeland and Mrs. J. C. (Lulu) Nation, and Mrs. W.
W. (Florine) McIver, both of Palestine; three brothers, Will Franklin of

Mr. Robert R. Franklin, 70, of Riverside, passed away at his residence
Wednesday, Jan. 2, 1974. Mr. Franklin was a retired Walker County
employee and a member of the Baptist Church. He had resided in Riverside
for the past 45 years. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan
4, in the Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Trinity with Rev. E. D. Coleman
officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Trinity.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Franklin of Trinity, Curtis
Franklin of Riverside, and Douglas Franklin of Harlington; one daughter,
Mrs. Effie Shepherd of Riverside; two brothers, Levie Franklin of
Trinity and Lawerence Franklin of Houston; one sister, Mrs. Jewel Sanches
of Corsicana; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Waller

Max Ray Franks
Max Ray Franks, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Franks of Lovelady, died
Thursday evening in a Lufkin hospital. Funeral services were held at the
graveside in the Antioch Cemetery with the Rev. E. P. Ramsey officiating.
Survivors, besides the parents, are sisters Glenda, Margarett, and Kay,

services were held Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 4:30 p.m. in the Waller Chapel,

Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Clarke Fraser, 59, of Palestine, were
held Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. in the Hassel and Foster Chapel,
Palestine, with Rev. Carroll Fancher officiating. Entombment followed at
4p.m. Tuesday in Hillcrest Mausoleum, Dallas, with Rev. Jack
Rittelmeyer, in charge. Mrs. Fraser was born July 15, 1910 in Houston
County, daughter of Mrs Mollie Coleman Clarke and the late Walter E.
Clarke, and she died Sunday at 12 noon in a Palestine hospital following
a short illness. She had made her home in Dallas for the last 35 years
before moving to Palestine in March 1969. Member of the Town North
Baptist Church, Dallas, she wsa preceded in death by her husband, Walter
B. Fraser, in April 1968. All friends of the family were designated
honorary pallbearers. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William F.
(Pamela) Helms, Conroe; mother, Mrs. W. E. Clarke, Palestine; a sister,
Mrs. G. P. Sowell, Palestine; two grandchildren, Adrienne and Adaire
Helms, both of Conroe.

Funeral services for Elvin Vernon Frazier, 58, of Palestine, were held
Monday, Dec. 28, at 3:30 p.m. in the Hassell & Foster Chapel with Rev.
Oland Cantrell and Rev. H. R. Grandberry officiating. Burial followed in
Strong Memorial Park, Slocum. Pallbearers were Leonard Morrison, Jack
Cox, Shirley Kennedy, Sims Johnson, Parks Glenn and Homer Bostic. Native
of Texas, Mr. Frazier was born Dec. 8, 1906, and for the past 20 years
had worked as a blacksmith for Missouri-Pacific Railroad. He died
Saturday at 10:30 p.m. in a Palestine hospital. Survivors include his
wife, Mrs. Mae Starkey Frazier of Palestine; two sons, Robert Lee
Frazier and Elvin Troy Frazier, both of Palestine; two daughters, Mrs.
Clarence Conaway and Mrs. E. B. Dickson, both of Palestine; father G. W.
Frazier of Palestine two brothers, Earl Frazier of Jacksonville, and
Alex Frazier of Crockett; a half-sister, Mrs. Ruby Camp of Nacogdoches

husband, Homer, of Crockett; a daughter, Mrs. Roy Willis of Groveton;

Mrs. Dollie McKee Frazier, 92, died Sunday at her home in Houston. Mrs.

Lovelady Methodist Churh, with Rev. Edward Swanson, pastor of the

Mr. William Payton Freeland, 65, of Houston, died at his home Tuesday.
Mr. Freeland was born Aug 26, 1899, in Paris, Texas. He was a member of

Houston the last 25 years. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday
at the graveside in the Corinth Cemetery, with the Rev. Glen Stovall
officiating. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Cora Morgan Freeland of

pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Dunbar Cemetery near Emory,
Texas and pallbearers were Perry Porter, J. B. Wade, H. C. Williams,
Orville Porter, Edward Mayes, and Arthur Wisener. Born Jan. 27, 1896, in
Rains County. Mrs. Freeman was a member of the Latexo Baptist Church.
Mrs. Freeman is survivoed by four sons, Douglas of Houston, Jessie W.
and Robert F. both of Lufkin, and John A. of Latexo; two daughters, Mrs.
Dolly Goldstein of Waco, and Mrs. Odessa Reed fo Crockett; a brother,
Perry Porter of Emory; a sister , Mrs. Ruby Wade of Dallas; 12

services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday from Callaway Memorial Chapel,

W. W. Frederich
Mr. W. W. Frederich, 74, of Rt. 3, Trinity, died in Trinity Memorial
Hospital Thursday morning. Mr. Frederich was a member of the Baptist
Church. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American
Legion. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Waller
Chapel at Trinity, with Rev. R. J. Marshall and Rev. Mike Ellison
Officiating. Burial was in the Weldon Cemetery. Survivors include the
widow, Mrs. W. W. Frederich of Trinity; a son, Ira T. Frederich of
Hill Top Lake; a brother, Gus Frederich of Teague; and eight
grandchildren. Waller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jim Friday
Mr. Jim Friday, 84, of 509 So. 4th Sr., Crockett, died Thursday, Aug 19,
in a local hospital, following a sudden illness. Mr. Friday, who had
lived in Crockett for the past 14 years, was born in Trinity County on
March 23, 1887. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Groveton.
Funeral services were held in the Callaway Memorial Chapel at 3 p.m.
Saturday, with Rev. Noble Lawerence officiating. Burial was in the
Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton. Pallbearers were Clifton Reynolds, John
Dominy, Frank Towery, John Norsworthy, Robin Nelson and Lynn Reynolds.
Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Jim Friday of Crockett, and several
nieces and nephews. Callaway Funeral Home of Crockett was in charge of

Mrs. J. Alexander Frisby
Mrs. John Alexander Frisby, 79, of Rt. 1, Grapeland, died Tuesday Oct.
12, at 7 a.m. in her home following a short illness. She was born in
Woodville on Dec. 16, 1879, and was a member of the Assembly of God
Church, Grapeland. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 3
p.m. in the Assembly of God Church, Grapeland, with Rev. L. D. Sellers
and Rev. D. M. Rice officiating. Burial was in Hayes Spring Cemetery,
west of Grapeland. Survivors: Husband, John A. Frisby of Grapeland; two
sons, Ben Arnold Frisby of Houston and L. A. Frisby of Sugerland; 6
grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a step-sister, Mrs. Bobbie Edds of

Funeral services for John A. Frisby, 95, of Rt. 1, Grapeland, were held
Friday, Dec 19, at 10 a.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel, Grapeland, with
the Rev. Earl Murdock officiating. Burial was in the Hayes Spring
Cemetery, west of Grapeland, under the direction of Hassell & Foster.
Mr. Frisby was born, Sept. 17, 1874 in Bluff City, Arkansas, to the late
Elijah Frisby and Mrs. Katherine Woodell Frisby, and he died Wednesday,
Dec. 17, at 11:45 p.m. in a Crockett nursing home following a long
illness. A retired farmer, he had resided in Houston County most of his
life, and was a member of the Asembly of God Church and Woodmen of the
World. His wife, Mrs. Mary Katherine Arnold Frisby, died Oct. 13, 1959.
Survivors include a brother, E. Monroe Carson of Grapeland; six
grandchildren, John Charles Frisby of Washington, D. C., Lavon Frisby
and Mrs. Marie Brown, both of Grapeland, Mrs. Gloria Remon of Alta Loma,
Mrs. Laura Averitte of Carrolton, and Mrs. Patsy Harrison of Crockett;
13 great grandchildren.

Alton Jackson Frisby
Mr. Alton Jackson Frisby, 67, of Houston, died Friday, in a
Houston nursing home. A retired minister, Mr. Frisby was born in houston
County Sept, 17, 1900. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday from
the Callaway Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Oscar Lock officiating. Burial
was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Nephews werved as pallbearers. Survivors
include two daughters, Mrs. eloise Hayes of Houston and Mrs. Johnny Sue
Files of Cameron; a sister, Mrs. Nina West of Crockett; two brothers,
Arthur Lee Frisby of Crockett and Marvin Frisby of Houston; five

Louie A. Frisby
Funeral services for Louie A. Frisby, 65, of Grapeland, were held
Friday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Grapeland, with
the Rev. Charles Haley and the Rev. J. T. Riley officiating. Burial was
in the Evergreen Cemetery, Percilla. Native and lifelong resident of
Grapeland, Mr. Frisby was born Sept. 14, 1902, to John A. Frisby and the
late Mrs. Mary Arnold Frisby. He died Thursday, Sept. 12, at 2:30 a.m.
in a Grapeland hospital following a short illness. Mr. Frisby was a
Baptist, and was the husband of the late Mrs. Minnie Dickey Frisby, who
died Oct. 2, 1944. Survivors include a son, Lavon Frisby of Grapeland;
four daughters, Mrs. Chuck (Gloria) Redmon of Alta Loma, Mrs. Ronald
(Laura) Averitte of Carrollton, Mrs. Doug (Patsy) Harrison of Crockett,
and Mrs. Wymon (Marie) Brown of Grapeland; father, John A. Frisby of
Crockett; 13 grandchildren. Arrangements were by Hassell and Foster.
Ben Arnold Frisby
Funeral services for Mr. Ben Arnold Frisby, 66, of Rt. 1, Grapeland,
were held Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 3 p.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel,
Grapeland, with Rev. Leslie L. Grounds and Rev. L. D. Seller
officiating. Burial followed in Hays Springs Cemetery, west of
Grapeland. Nephews served as pallbearers.
A native of Woodville, Mr. Frisby was born on July 14, 1897. He spent
most of his life in Grapeland. He died early Tuesday morning. Survivors
include a son, J. C., of Amarillo; father, John of Grapeland; a brother,
Louie of Grapeland; and a number of nieces and nephews. Arrangements
were by Hassell & Foster. Frisby Services Held Wednesday Funeral
services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Hassell & Foster
Chapel, Grapeland, for Ben Arnold Frisby, 66. Mr. Frisby was discovered
dead in his car early Tuesday morning about 2 miles south of the old
Crockett road. Hill Huff was inroute to his pasture to feed cattle and
discovered the body. Olan Davis, justice of the peace, was called about
8:30 a.m. and rendered a verdict of death due to natural causes. Davis
estimated Mr. Frisby had been dead five or six hours. Rev. Leslie
Grounds and Rev. L. D. Sellers officiated at the services. Burial was in
the Hayes Spring Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. Mr.
Frisby was born in Woodville July 14, 1897, but had resided here most of
his life. Survivors include a son, J. C. Frisby of Amarillo; father,
John Frisby, Grapeland; one brother, Louie Frisby, Grapeland; a number
of nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by Hassell & Foster.

Jim Douglass Frizzell
Jim Douglass Frizzell, 17-year-old student of Kennard, died in a local
hospital Wednesday, May 25, after an extended illness. Funeral services
were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 27 at the Tabernacle at the English
Cemetery with Mr. Carl A. Allen, minister of the Crockett Church of
Christ officiating. Interment was in the English Cemetery and
pallbearers were Grady Blalock, Cecil Cook, Leon Huff, Doyle Bennett,
Benford Frizzell and Doyle Hutcherson. Survivors are the parents, Mr.
and Mrs. William Frizzell of Kennard; two brothers Jerry and James Earl,
both of Kennard; three sisters, Mrs. Preston Warren of Crockett, and
Jannie and Judy both of Kennard; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C.

Mr. Monroe Frizzell, 75, of 7826 Tidwell Road, Houston, passed away in
Houston, Thursday, May 24. Mr. Frizzell was formerly of Houston County,
but had resident in Houston for the past 30 years. Graveside services
were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 26, in the Hicks Cemetery with
Rev. Joe Ash officiating. Survivors include four sons, David E.
Frizzell, Channelview, Jimmie Hayden Frizzell, Delton Neal Frizzell,

Mr. Joe Frizzell, 74, of Rt. 1, Crockett, died Saturday in a Crockett
hospital. Mr. Frizzell, a retired farmer, was born Aug. 30, 1894, in

Church of Christ. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the

Mr. Harvey Baines Frizzell, 81, of Rt. 1, Crockett, died Wednesday

had lived here for his entire lifetime. A retired farmer, he was a
member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m.

Mr. Herbert Earl Fulgham, 52, of Houston, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, in
Houston. Mr. Fulgham, reared in Houston County, was retired from the U.
S. Army, after 20 years' service. He was a veteran of World War II, and
a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 12 noon
Friday in the Heights Chapel, with Rev. E. P. Ramsey, pastor of the
First Baptise Church of Crockett, officiating. Burial was in the V. A.
Cemetery. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Lillian Fulgham of Houston;

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Fuller, 65, of Tuscon, Ariz, were
held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in that city. Mrs. Fuller lived in
Houston County before moving to Tuscon, and had visited her home town
of Crockett Quite frequently. Survivors include one son, Charles E.
Fuller, two granddaughters, one grandson, and one great granddaughter
and great grandson, all of Tuscon, Ariz. three sisters, Mrs. Mary
Temple, Mrs. Norman Hooks, Mrs. Lucille Keels, all of Crockett; three

Mr. Charles Justin Fuller, 74, of Rt. 4, Crockett, died Thursday
afternoon in a Marlin hospital. Mr. Fuller, a retired barber, was a
lifelong resident of Houston County. He was a veteran of World War I,
and a member of the Central Baptist Church. Funeral services were held
at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Waller Chapel, with Rev. W. D. Thomason
officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Memorial Park. Survivors inlude
the widow, Mrs. Clara Fuller of Crockett; three sons, Charles H. Fuller
of Baytown, T/Sgt. J. Shannon Fuller of Albuquerque, N. M. , and Robert

Ross Fullerton
Funeral services for Ross Fullerton, 58, of Slocum, were held Saturday,
July 4, at 10 a.m. in the Slocum Baptist Church, with Rev. W. C.
Littleton and Rev. John Garlington officiating. Burial followed in
Strong Memorial park, Slocum. Pallbearers were Billy Ray Barnett, Leon
Mitchell, Duke Wayne Turner, James Turner, Leroy Lusk and Bill Lasiter.
A native of Oklahoma, Mr. Fullerton was born Dec. 9, 1905. He was reared
in Cherokee County, and had been a resident of Anderson County for a
number of years. At the time of his death, he operated a general
mercantile store in Slocum. Also, he was serving as constable, a member
of the Slocum School Board, director of Houston County Electric
Cooperative, president of Elkhart Lions Club, and a member of the Slocum
Baptist Church. He died Thursday at 4:45 p.m. in a Palestine hospital
following an extended illness. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Louvella
Lasiter Fullerton; a son, Ronnie J. Fullerton; a daughter, Miss Judy Nan
Fullerton; mother, Mrs. J. F. Fullerton; a sister, Mrs. Duke Turner, all
of Slocum, several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by Hassell &
Foster.

Mr. Jimmy Donald Fulmer of Rt. #2, Grapeland, died early Tuesday morning
in a local hospital. Mr. Fuller, age 38, was born in Houston County on

Mr. Cloyce Wayne Fulmer, 40, of Rt. 2, Grapeland, died Sunday in the
Veterans Hospital in Houston. Mr. Fulmer was employed by Stowe Lumber
Co. He was born Sept. 1, 1927, in Houston County, and was a veteran of
World War II. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the San
Pedro community church, near Grapeland, with Rev. Merle Fulmer, Rev.
Kenneth Fuller, Rev. James Stuckey and Rev. W. A. Grounds officiating.
Burial was in the San Pedro Cemetery. Employees o Stowe Lumber Co., were
pallbearers. Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Fulmer
