FORT WORTH -- Joyce Barton, 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Edge Park United Methodist Church, 5616 Crowley Road in Fort Worth, with Pastor Lynn Moore and the Rev. Gary Lindley officiating. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Edge Park United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Barton was born Nov. 30, 1929, in Crockett. She and her husband, Troy Barton, moved to Fort Worth in 1954.

She was a charter member of Edge Park United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, was very active  in the UMW and served on numerous committees. She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and achieved the  designation of a life master in ACBL.

Mrs. Barton enjoyed her family, friends, her church and her two cats, Simon and Peter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Barton, in 1991.

Survivors: Son, Gary Barton; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Phil Norwood; sisters, Wanda Trout and  Frieda Coon, Crockett, TX; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
