ALBERT
GUSTAV RANFT, Jr. passed
away March 26, 2008, in League
City, Texas. He was born October
22, 1926 in Houston, Texas to
Albert and
Alice Kretzschmar Ranft.
Al graduated from Milby High
School and shortly thereafter
enlisted in the U.S. Army,
serving two years in Germany. He
received his BBA from the
University of Houston in 1955
and went to work for Champion
Papers in Pasadena, Texas. It
was there he met and, married
BERTA
YOUNGBLOOD on September
12 1959.
Al retired from Champion in 1984
after 34 plus years of service,
and he and Berta moved to their
beloved farm near Crockett,
Texas. At adored living in the
country, where he enjoyed riding
his tractor, fishing in his
lakes, and gardening. He was an
avid gardener and raised,
several varieties of rare
bromeliads as well as hybrid
iris and day lilies. In his
younger years, Al was an
excellent hunter and fisherman.
He was also very artistic,
having won free art lessons at
the Museum of Fine Arts as a
child. His specialty was
sculpting, but he also did water
color and oil painting.
At the time of his death, Al was
a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran
Church in Nassau Bay, Texas.
Prior to this, he belonged, to
Grace Lutheran Church in
Crockett, Texas. Al's faith was
very important to him, and he
had served his Church in various
capacities all his aduIt life.
Al was preceded in death by his
parents,
Albert and Alice Kretzschmar
Ranft, and is survived by
his wife,
Berta, of 48 years;
daughter and son-in-Law,
Karen and
Michael Cunningham of
Taylor Lake Village; and
grandchildren,
Ross and
Rachel Cunningham.
Visitation will be held Friday,
March 28, 2008 from 6pm to 8pm
at the funeral home. A chapel
service will be held Saturday,
March 29 2008 at 1pm at the
funeral home with interment
following at Forest Park
Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests
that contributions be sent to
The Cottages at Clear Lake
